About the Job
The Lab Technician & Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting laboratory operations and research activities. They assist in conducting experiments, analyzing results, and maintaining laboratory equipment and facilities, contributing to the overall success of scientific projects and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize laboratory equipment, instruments, and materials for experiments and research.
- Assist in conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and documenting results accurately.
- Perform routine laboratory tests and procedures following standard protocols and methodologies.
- Ensure the cleanliness, organization, and maintenance of the laboratory environment and equipment.
- Assist in the calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Handle and process laboratory samples, including preparation and storage.
- Support research activities by following experimental protocols and assisting in data collection and analysis.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Assist in inventory management by monitoring supplies and ordering necessary materials and reagents.
- Record and maintain accurate experimental and research data for documentation and analysis.
- Collaborate with scientists, researchers, and other team members to support laboratory processes and projects.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, efficient, and productive laboratory environment.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to equipment and experiments.
- Participate in training programs and workshops related to laboratory techniques and safety practices.
- Support the implementation of quality control and assurance measures in the laboratory.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field such as Biology, Chemistry, or related discipline.
- Previous experience in a laboratory environment or research setting is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic lab techniques and procedures.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and interpretation using relevant software or tools.
- Understanding of laboratory safety protocols, including handling hazardous materials and waste disposal.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain accurate records.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in handling laboratory samples and equipment.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Capability to adapt to changing priorities and work efficiently in a dynamic laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with instrument calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting is beneficial.
- Commitment to upholding quality standards, compliance, and ethical conduct in scientific research.
- Basic knowledge of inventory management and procurement processes.
- Willingness to adhere to safety regulations and participate in relevant training programs.
- Ability to work independently under supervision and contribute to the overall success of laboratory projects.
- Flexibility to work occasional weekends or extended hours based on project requirements.
