Role Summary :

As a Manager, Food technologist -Product application Researcher, participate in Consumer and application research for existing and new products. Incorporate new trends with deep food science & nutrition know-how for relevant and superior propositions

You are responsible for :

  • Participate in Consumer and application research for existing and new products.
  • Incorporate new trends with deep food science & nutrition know-how for relevant and superior propositions.
  • Contribute to new research direction initiatives and technology roadmap that lead to kitchen appliance development.
  • Manage “Product Research Centre” lab, hands-on to carry out product application testing of new kitchen appliance products & product performance. benchmarking, cooking performance comparison for innovation projects.
  • Engage in product experience of new products under design & development for continuous user experience improvement, feedback to design team, arrive at agreement in project phase.  Benchmarking of product performance wrt competition and internal models.
  • Understanding kitchen appliance product performance and quality requirements in product design, Liaison between Consumer and R&D for product development.
  • Continuous improvement and competency development in new domains.
  • Partner with marketing lead, project lead to run innovation projects and key deliverables.
  • Development of Product claims with relevant stakeholders.
  • Product communication material preparation support & monitor for high quality deliverable by project team (color cartons messages, Direction for use, recipe booklet).
  • Product Rating & review monitoring (online platform) and collaborate with marketing, Quality, with in R&D for continuous improvement.
  • Evolve and ownership to drive Systematic innovation, improve user experience by tools like User FMEA and collaboration with product designers.

You are a part of Innovation and Development Team as Manager (Food technologist -Product application Researcher) in Versuni India Home Solutions, (Preethi and Philips Brands) formerly known as Philips Domestic Appliances

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a customer-first attitude and the following ;

  • Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Food Science & Technology/Nutrition
  • Work experience: 5-8 years minimum experience in Application Research / Consumer Research
  • Provide Consumer Insights for product development through various activities
  • Preparation, Testing and evaluation of appliances as per customer usage and correlating with standards and requirements.
  • Food microbiology knowledge and its application in claim testing
  • Experience in Food technology and various cuisines would be an added advantage
  • Experience with Home/Kitchen appliances is preferred
  • Interest in food preparation and cooking
  • Travel for consumer research

In a previous project, we noticed a growing trend of consumers seeking plant-based protein options. I led the team to develop a new plant-based protein product that not only aligned with this trend but also met the desired taste and texture expectations. By utilizing my food science expertise, we were able to create a product that was not only nutritionally sound but also appealing to the target audience.

Question 4: How do you approach collaboration between the R&D and consumer teams to ensure successful product development? Answer: Collaboration between R&D and consumer teams is essential for successful product development. I ensure open communication channels, regular meetings, and cross-functional workshops to align everyone’s goals. By fostering a collaborative environment, we can effectively translate consumer insights into actionable product features and attributes. This ensures that the final product meets both customer expectations and technical feasibility.

Question 5: Could you share an instance when you managed a challenging project within a given timeframe? Answer: In a time-sensitive project, we were tasked with developing a new kitchen appliance product line in a tight timeframe. I organized the “Product Research Centre” lab efficiently, oversaw hands-on testing, benchmarked performance against competitors, and collaborated closely with the design and project teams. By effectively managing resources and timelines, we successfully launched the innovative product line within the given timeframe without compromising on quality.

Question 6: How do you approach incorporating user feedback into product design? Answer: User feedback is invaluable for product improvement. I engage in product experience testing, gather feedback from users under the design and development phase, and collaborate with the design team to implement necessary changes. By analyzing user input and aligning it with design modifications, we can enhance the user experience and ensure that our products meet real-world needs effectively.
