One Week Hands-on Training Programme in Plant Tissue Culture 17th to 22nd October, 2016
About Institution: Agri Biotech Foundation (Formerly Andhra Pradesh-Netherlands Biotechnology Programme) is an autonomous interdisciplinary research institute engaged in Agricultural Research, Extension, Human Resource Development and Public Advocacy. The Foundation has been recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi. ABF works closely with India’s premier research organizations like Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and also National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).
Aim of the programme: To develop trained manpower in the area of plant tissue culture and also equip them with advanced theoretical and practical knowledge.
Course content: Course will cover orientation lectures along with hands-on experience in a variety of plant tissue culture techniques like media preparation, sterilization, explants preparation, aseptic inoculation, direct multiple shoot induction, culture multiplication, in vitro and in vivo rooting, potting mixture preparation and acclimatization of tissue culture plants etc. with special emphasis on micro-propagation of banana and teak.
Eligibility: Graduate and Post Graduate students in life sciences (Biotechnology, Agriculture, Horticulture
, Botany and Seed Technology), lecturers of the universities and private colleges, research scholars, assistant professors, persons working in relevant industries and entrepreneurs. No. of Intake: 20 members on first come first serve basis.Course Fee: Registration fee: Rs.3,000/- (Rupees three thousand only) which includes tuition fee, training material and working lunch. Accommodation can be arranged to outstation candidates upon request on payment basis at Rs.100/person/day at student hostel or Rs.250/per person/day at ICAR-Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research (IIOR) guest house.
