Hands-On Training in Next Generation Sequencing organized by The Centre for Science Education and Communication (CSEC) @ University of Delhi
The Centre for Science Education and Communication (CSEC) at the University of Delhi was established in 1989 as a response to the changing relationship between society at large and the University- viewed as a centre for the pursuit and teaching of Science. It is an autonomous institution within the University of Delhi in which studies can be carried out by teachers and students of the University, and other interested individuals, for the generation of ideas and materials for the improvement of Science education at University and School levels; and for the promotion of a wider interest in Science and scientific issues, through all means of communications.
Hands-On Training in Next Generation Sequencing

Hands-on Training in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) is aimed at providing practical exposure in the area of NGS and also to analyse the data so generated. This Training will provide an introduction to the technology, data analysis, tools and resources for next generation sequencing (NGS) data. The content is intended to provide a broad overview of the area, and to highlight key resources, approaches and methodologies. Topics will be delivered using a mixture of lectures, practical sessions and open discussions. Practical work during the course will use small, example datasets.
Tentative programme will include the following:
- Exposure to current and Emerging Technologies in DNA Sequencing
- Metagenomes and microbiome
- Library Preparation
- Next Generation Sequencing
- Raw data Analysis and Understanding reports
- NGS data management
- RNA Sequencing
- Challenges- NGS Data Analysis
