About the Project & Position
The project focuses on the cutting-edge field of wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE). By utilizing genomics-based methods, the team aims to track SARS-CoV-2 variants, emerging pathogens, and the spread of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) within the community. This role is central to the RGCB recruitment drive to strengthen India’s infectious disease monitoring infrastructure.
- Duration: Initially for one year; extendable based on performance evaluation and project tenure.
- Terminability: The position is temporary and co-terminus with the project.
Position: Project Scientist-I (Genomics)

- Monthly Emoluments: ₹ 67,000/- + 18% HRA
- Age Limit: Below 35 years as of Dec 31, 2025 (Relaxation as per Govt. norms)
- Tenure: Initially for one year; extendable based on performance and project duration.
Essential & Desirable Profile
- Essential Qualification: Ph.D. in Life Science with demonstrated research experience in Genomics.
- Desirable Skills:
- Candidates with at least 2 years of post-PhD experience in Genomics are preferred.
- Hands-on expertise in genomic sequencing and molecular biology techniques.
Job Description
- Implement genomics-based methods for the surveillance of wastewater samples.
- Track and analyze the genomic data of SARS-CoV-2, emerging viral pathogens, and AMR markers.
- Contribute to national biosurveillance reports and coordinate within the INSACOG consortium framework.
