Educational Requirements for the Senior Microbiologist Role:
- Master’s Degree (M.Sc.) in Microbiology
- Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards is an added advantage
- 2–5 years of experience working in a testing laboratory environment
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Microbiologist Role:
- Conduct hands-on work in a microbiology laboratory and maintain accurate documentation.
- Handle microbial cultures and perform Growth Promotion Tests and Media Preparation.
- Carry out Environmental Monitoring and Microbiological Testing for raw materials, water, and finished food products.
- Apply Rapid Testing Methods such as VIDAS in microbiological analysis.
- Perform analysis of swab and hygiene samples.
- Operate and calibrate microbiology-related equipment such as Autoclaves, Laminar Air Flow units, pH meters, Water Baths, and Incubators.
- Maintain documentation in compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements.
- Execute plating procedures for enumeration of TPC, Yeast & Mould, Coliforms, E. coli, Listeria spp, and Salmonella.
Skills Required for the Senior Microbiologist Role:
- Strong laboratory and analytical skills in Microbiology Testing.
- Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards and laboratory documentation.
- Experience in Food and Water Testing environments.
- Ability to handle microbiological instruments and ensure calibration accuracy.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working in a team environment.
