Clinical Data Coder Role Overview:
Provide comprehensive data management expertise (defined as efficient and quality data management products) to Data Management (DM) team to meet sponsor and company needs. Perform Clinical Data Management and/or Coding activities, and may provide leadership either in the role of the Lead Coder or in a specific CDM task (e.g., Data Operations Coordinator (DOC) or lead a coding-related task on a mega trial).

Educational Requirements for the Clinical Data Coder Role:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Life Sciences, or related fields.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant experience will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities of the Clinical Data Coder Role:
- Serve independently as a Clinical Data Coder, Lead Coder, or Data Operations Coordinator (DOC) for one or more protocols.
- Manage coding activities and stand-alone projects throughout the full study lifecycle with minimal supervision.
- Validate and test coding applications, programming reports, datasets, and related activities.
- Perform data review, coding, and clarification resolution to maintain database accuracy.
- Manage project timelines with guidance from the DOC, DTL, or Manager.
- Conduct Serious Adverse Event (SAE) reconciliation and support quality audits.
- Implement quality control procedures and contribute to adopting new data management technologies.
- Collaborate effectively with global teams, providing technical and coding-related solutions.
- Comply with core operating procedures and work instructions.
- Maintain professional communication and relationships within the team.
Skills Required for the Clinical Data Coder Role:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in clinical data management or coding.
- Excellent knowledge of medical terminologies, pharmacology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency with medical dictionaries such as MedDRA and WHODD.
- Strong understanding of clinical data management processes, from study start-up to database lock.
- Proficiency in database technologies related to data management and coding.
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills in English and the ability to work independently and in teams.
- Knowledge of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality compliance practices.
