Applications are invited from highly motivated and eligible Indian citizens for the position of Project Associate-I in a Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) [Grand Challenges India- Climate Change and Agriculture Program] sponsored research project entitled “Development of a multispecies bacterial consortium to control Fusarium infection and deciphering its epigenetic regulation under elevated humid conditions in tea (Camellia sinensis)” (BT/GCI-CCAGRI0594/13/23), under the supervision of Dr. Avishek Banik (Principal Investigator), Assistant Professor, Institute of Health Sciences, Presidency University, Kolkata.

16th January, 2025, from 11:30 PM onwards.

Application process:
The candidate must email:
i) Their current CV including their contact number.
ii) A 1000-word research statement including any past research experience in plant-microbe interaction and motivation for this project.
iii) Name, email ID
, and phone number of at least one academic referee, who can provide feedback on their academic background.iv) Scanned copies of their mark sheets/certificates (class 10 onwards) and a Government-issued photo identity proof in a single PDF file (name the file e.g., BIRAC_PA_Name of the candidate) to the PI ([email protected]) before 14th January, 2025.

Minimum Educational Qualifications Required: Candidates should possess a postgraduate degree in Microbiology/ Molecular Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Life Sciences or related fields, securing at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories).
Age Limit: 28 years
The following qualifications are desirable but not mandatory:
a) Previous research experience in microbial metabolomics and genomics (publication or master’s dissertation thesis).
b) Evidence of good oral and written communication skills in English through presentation.
Job Description:
The fellow will contribute to develop a multispecies microbial consortium to control Fusarium infection through metabolomics and genomics. The fellow will take part in publishing the scientific findings in reputed peer-reviewed international journals. He/she is encouraged to set up collaborations with other members of the department at Presidency University.
Enrolling for Ph.D.:
The selected candidate may be allowed to enroll in Ph.D. program as per university rules.
Duration of Project: Thirty-six months
Tenure of Assignment: Thirty-six months or subject to the availability of funds by the funding agency.
Fellowship/Salary: Rs. 31,000 + 27% HRA = Rs. 39,370 per month

- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
