Interested and eligible candidates are requested to appear before the selection committee on 15th January, 2025 at 11:00 AM for the post of Junior Research Fellow (01) in National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS) Large Grant project “Multidimensional Assessment of Ecological Dynamics and Ecosystem Health of Selected High-Altitude Wetlands of Indian Himalayan Region (IHR) for Effective Conservation and Management planning” at the Zoological Survey of India, Head Qtrs., ‘M’ Block, New Alipore, Kolkata-700053, West Bengal, India.

Details of the project
Project Name: “Multidimensional Assessment of Ecological Dynamics and Ecosystem Health of Selected High-Altitude Wetlands of Indian Himalayan Region (IHR) for Effective Conservation and Management planning”.
Funding Agency: National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS), MoEFCC.
Project Duration: Initially up to one year, may be extended for further period(s) based on satisfactory performance of individual and funding.

Research experience, field survey experience in high altitude areas, water sampling, DNA extraction, chemical analysis of water and soil samples, knowledge of Computer and basic field data collection. Preferably NET (LS) or GATE qualified. | Rs. 31,000/ + eligible HRA for NET/GATE qualified candidates or Rs. 20,000/ + eligible HRA for other candidates for Year I and II and Rs. 35,000/ + eligible HRA for NET/GATE qualified candidates or Rs. 23,000/ + eligible HRA for other candidates for Year III |
General Instructions
- Age limit: Upper age limit is 28 years for JRF on the date of interview. However, the upper age limit may be relaxed as per Government of India rules and regulations.
- The above posts are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.
- Candidates appearing for the walk-in-interview are required to register from 10 AM to 12:15 PM on the day of interview at Zoological Survey of India, ‘M’ Block, New Alipore, Kolkata-700053.
- Candidates should bring the duly filled-in application with self-attested true copies of testimonials of qualifications, experience, date of birth etc. along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations.
- All original documents should be produced at the time of registration.
- The offer of appointment to the candidates will be on purely contractual basis for one year initially and it may be extended for further period(s) based on further project extension and satisfactory performance of the candidate.
- The selected candidates need to join immediately or at a short notice.
- No TA/DA will be provided to the candidates for appearing for the interview.

- Incomplete application forms/applications with misrepresented facts will not be considered.
- Any kind of paid or honorary, part-or-full-time employment or private practice even in honorary capacity is not permissible during the tenure of Associateship.
- ‘No Objection Certificate’ from present employer to be submitted during interview (if employed).
- The Director, Zoological Survey of India reserves the right to selection or rejection of any candidature and cancellation of the walk-in-interview.
