Job Description:

In this role, you will deliver content validation

by:

  • Researching international experts suitable as peer reviewers for cutting-edge research
  • Conducting desk assessments of submissions to ensure compliance with Taylor & Francis editorial policies

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the peer review process to meet speed and quality targets, including:
    • Upholding best practices
    • Ensuring the effective operation of peer review systems
    • Accurate data management and record-keeping
  • Using internal and external databases to:
    • Research, select, and invite appropriate reviewers
    • Oversee reviewer selection service delivery through collaboration with vendor operatives and T&F supplier management teams
  • Conducting editorial checks, including:
    • Suitability of submissions
    • Adherence to ethics and integrity practices
    • Compliance with editorial policies
  • Assessing image quality in articles and identifying concerns
  • Liaising effectively with authors, reviewers, academic editors, and internal teams regarding:
    • Manuscript requirements
    • Peer review timelines
    • Standard queries
  • Managing the quality of reviewer selection and desk assessment services through:
    • Problem-solving and data analysis
    • Recognizing process improvement opportunities
    • Providing effective feedback
  • Staying updated on ethical publication practices and internal/external guidelines
  • Providing excellent customer service and managing stakeholder expectations
  • Supporting projects, including:
    • Supervision and reporting on test journals
    • Collaboration within Global Peer Review and other departments
  • Organizing and participating in training, meetings, and workshops
  • Handling confidential information responsibly, considering legal and ethical implications
  • Managing your learning and sharing knowledge actively

Qualifications:

  • A post-graduate qualification in Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Science, or Engineering subjects
  • Prior experience in academic publishing and journal peer review processes is desirable
  • Awareness of academic publishing trends
  • Confident communication skills (email, phone, in-person) with strong English proficiency
  • Knowledge of process-driven workflows and customer-facing roles
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, and capable problem-solver
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to excellent customer service
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and exhibit persuasion and influencing skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in assignments
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software
  • Experience with online submission platforms like ScholarOne™ or Editorial Manager® is advantageous (training available)
