INNOVATION CHALLENGE
Organized by BSC BioNEST Bio-Incubator (BBB) at the Regional Centre for Biotechnology, Faridabad. A unique innovation challenge showcasing critical thinking, innovation, and creativity of Undergraduate and Postgraduate students. With the mission to support and nurture the Biotech startup ecosystem, BBB is continuously supporting young Bio-entrepreneurs by providing excellent incubation facilities & infrastructure. BBB is organizing an innovation challenge ‘SPARK’ to provide a platform to the budding entrepreneurs.
Problem Statements
- “Preventive Healthcare Solutions”: Innovative tools or applications for early detection & prevention of diseases like diabetes, hypertension & cardiovascular conditions, etc.
- “Water Conservation in Urban Areas”: Small water management systems that help urban households & industries reduce water wastage, ensuring sustainable usage & prevention of water resources.
- “Agri-waste to resource”: Transformation of agricultural waste into valuable resources such as bioenergy & biodegradable materials to create sustainable farming practices.

Problem Statements
- “Preventive Healthcare Solutions”: Innovative tools or applications for early detection & prevention of diseases like diabetes, hypertension & cardiovascular conditions, etc. Chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular conditions are on the rise globally, often going undetected until they lead to serious health complications. The challenge lies in providing individuals with innovative, easy-to-use tools that enable early detection and proactive prevention of these conditions. The teams are expected to come up with innovative solutions that tackle this critical healthcare challenge.
- “Water Conservation in Urban Areas”: Small water management systems that help urban households & industries reduce water wastage, ensuring sustainable usage & prevention of water resources. Urban areas face increasing pressure on water resources due to rapid population growth, industrialization, and climate change. Efficient water management is critical to ensure sustainable water use and prevent wastage in both households and industries. The challenge is to develop small-scale, innovative water management systems that can be easily implemented in urban settings. Teams are expected to come up with innovative water conservation solutions.
- “Agri-waste to resource”: Transformation of agricultural waste into valuable resources such as bioenergy & biodegradable materials to create sustainable farming practices. Agricultural waste, such as crop residues and livestock manure, is often underutilized and can contribute to environmental degradation if not managed properly. The challenge is to develop innovative methods for transforming this waste into valuable resources, such as bioenergy and biodegradable materials. Teams are expected to design innovative solutions for converting agricultural waste into valuable resources.
Who can participate?
- A Team of 3-5 UG / PG (Science) / Ph.D. Pursuing students
- The team can be from any UGC recognized College/ Institute/ University
How to Register – Steps
- Log on to https://www.rcb.res.in/ (Home Page)
- Click on the ‘SPARK’ registration link at the home page
- Pay Application fee (INR 1000/ Team) by clicking on the Payment link
- Note down the UTR No. after payment
- Open Google form https://forms.gle/GoUKjvroDjmBNdAt8
- Fill the details in Google form for registration along with UTR No.
- Submit proposals in Google form (Maximum 500 words)
- Click on Submit button
General Rules:
- Each team must identify an innovative solution related to one of the previously mentioned “Problem Statements.”
- The focus should be on developing novel solutions with commercial viability.
- Ideas that do not address the specified “Problem Statements” will be disqualified.
- Submissions must be original and innovative; any form of plagiarism will result in disqualification.
- Teams may use the internet for research and information gathering.
- Once submitted, proposals cannot be modified.
- All participants will receive an online certificate of participation.
- Registration fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.
Grand Finale – 16th January 2025
Important points for the final pitch
- Presentation Template: A template for the presentation will be provided to the shortlisted teams.
- Duration: Each presentation should not exceed 8 minutes.
- Media Inclusion: Teams may include videos, photographs, and audio clips within their presentation.
- Time Warning: A buzzer will sound at the 7-minute mark. Teams exceeding the allotted time will incur point deductions.
- Judging Process: Teams will present their proposals to a panel of distinguished judges, who will have the opportunity to ask questions.
- Final Decision: The decision of the judges will be final.
