Coding for Biologists: A Path to BioIT Success
If you are a biologist who wants to make a career in the ever-growing world of biotechnology but at the same time earn the perks of IT Industry, you must be eager to merge your biological knowledge with IT skills. However, learning to code can be challenging as well as scary, especially if the instructor does not understand the unique perspective of a biologist. This has happened to me when I myself tried to learn coding from an Infosys Engineer. I failed!! But then I learnt it from BioTecNika’s Computational Biology Scientists.
Truth is: Most Biologist fear coding and most engineers who know how to code can’t teach it to a biologist because our way understanding subjects is different. To address this challenge, BioTecNika has asked its Bioinformatics & Computational Biology Scientists to create a comprehensive personalized program to teach Coding to Biology professionals and we are proudly calling it: The Coding for Biologist Initiative
The Importance of Coding in BioIT
Biological sciences are valuable, but the demand for bioinformatics and biotechnology is rapidly increasing. Companies like Accenture, Wipro, Infosys, Google, and Amazon are seeking professionals who not only possess biological expertise
but also coding skills. Coding forms the foundation for artificial intelligence, machine learning in biology, and bioinformatics. The Coding for Biologists Initiative
In response to the need for coding skills among biologists, BioTecnika has launched the Coding for Biologists Initiative. This program will be led by three senior scientists who are experts in coding and life sciences. The initiative aims to teach Python, BioPython, and C in detail through a 15-day summer training program.
Program Details
The Coding for Biologists summer training program is designed for individuals with no prior coding experience but a strong interest in pursuing a career in bioinformatics. The program will focus on teaching coding from a biological perspective to ensure a comprehensive understanding. Python, being the foundational language for AI and machine learning, will be a key component of the training.
Why Choose Coding for Biologists Initiative?
This initiative is the first of its kind, tailored specifically for biologists looking to enhance their coding abilities. The course structure and content have been carefully crafted to meet the needs of biologists interested in bioIT. By enrolling in this program, participants will be equipped with essential coding skills necessary for future advancements in AI and machine learning.
Enrollment Details
The Coding for Biologists program will commence on the 28th of March and run for 15 days. Participants can expect one and a half hours of training per day, including live sessions and project assignments. By the end of the program, attendees will have acquired proficiency in Python, BioPython, R, and C.
