As an Intern at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will have the opportunity to be part of a team focused on recombinant antibody development. You will work alongside the cell culture team in optimizing siRNA transfection protocols in primary cell lines. Your work will contribute to scientific research and the advancement of our understanding in this field.
A Day in the Life:
- Perform cell culture activities and laboratory techniques, including aseptic handling and expansion of primary cells and immortal cell lines.
- Plan and execute scientific research, with emphasis on cell culture techniques.
- Analyze cell culture samples, including microscopy, cell counting, Mycoplasma testing, QPCR, Western blot, ELISA, and other related tests.
- Utilize automation to improve throughput in current processes.
- Calibrate and perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment, while documenting these activities.
Keys to Success:
Education: M.Sc/B.Tech/M.Tech
Experience:
- Theoretical knowledge of cell culture basics such as microscopic observation, cell counting, media preparation, aseptic handling, etc.
- Strong understanding and hands-on expertise in culture techniques and handling cancer cell lines.
- Additional experience in protein biology, molecular biology, or related disciplines is preferred.
- Experience in primary and/or stem cell work is an advantage.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Excellent record-keeping skills and highly organized.
- Self-motivated with a desire to take on new challenges.
- Capacity to quickly learn new technologies and concepts and apply them to the needs of the lab.
