Possible interview questions may be asked for Project Associate for Post Graduate

1. Can you tell us about your educational background and why you pursued a postgraduate degree in Biological Sciences?

Answer: I pursued a postgraduate degree in Biological Sciences because of my deep-rooted passion for understanding the intricate mechanisms of life. During my undergraduate studies, I developed a keen interest in biology, and I wanted to delve deeper into the subject matter. This led me to pursue an MSc/MTech in Biological Sciences, which provided me with a strong foundation in the field and equipped me with the necessary knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to scientific research.

2. The job description mentions experience in mouse handling, flow cytometry, and molecular biology techniques as desirable qualifications. Can you elaborate on your experience in these areas?

Answer: I have gained valuable experience in these areas through both academic coursework and practical research. I have been involved in the care and handling of mouse colonies, including breeding and conducting experiments. My hands-on experience with flow cytometry includes sample preparation, data acquisition, and data analysis using flow cytometry instruments and software. I have also worked with various molecular biology techniques, such as PCR, DNA extraction, and gel electrophoresis. This experience has allowed me to contribute effectively to research projects that require these skills.

3. How familiar are you with genomics-based data analysis, and can you provide an example of a project where you utilized this knowledge?

Answer: I have a solid foundation in genomics-based data analysis, including the use of bioinformatics tools and software. One project where I applied this knowledge involved analyzing high-throughput sequencing data to identify genetic variants associated with a specific disease. I utilized various bioinformatics pipelines to process raw sequencing data, perform quality control, align sequences, and identify relevant genetic variations. This analysis contributed valuable insights to the project and helped in understanding the genetic basis of the disease.

4. Can you describe your ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment, given that this position involves multiple investigators and a team setting?

Answer: I thrive in collaborative research environments and believe that teamwork is essential for the success of any research project. I have experience working on interdisciplinary teams where I have collaborated with researchers from diverse backgrounds.
