JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Overview

Manage end-to-end delivery of data management services for single/multi-service projects with minimal guidance, ensuring quality deliverables on time and within budget, to customer satisfaction. Provide comprehensive data management expertise to Clinical Data Management (CDM) team to provide high quality data management products that meet customer needs. Provide leadership to the team in the areas of project planning, execution, and close-out; financial management; communications; and milestone deliverables. Perform role of Data Team Lead (DTL). Comply with Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), applicable regulatory guidelines, SOPs, policies, and, where available, CDM guidance documents.

Essential Functions:

Client Management:

  • Serve as primary point of contact for customers regarding data management deliverables.
  • Provide project management expertise to work with customer data managers, key decision makers, and internal team members for process improvements, issue escalation, workload projections, and technical expertise.
  • Provide input for and perform negotiations with customers on timelines, financial matters, processes, and resources.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and open communications with both customers and IQVIA management to meet contractual obligations.
  • Ensure milestones meet timelines and quality deliverables by meeting regularly with Data Operations Coordinator (DOC) and Data Operations team members.
  • Establish strong communications with Data Operations team, functional leads, project managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Support data management service delivery with comprehensive process and technical expertise.
  • Serve as an escalation point for unresolved data issues, collaborating with client data managers, vendors, and internal team members for resolution.
  • Work with functional manager(s) to ensure appropriate resources are assigned to meet project deliverables.
  • Create, review, and sign-off on data management plan (DMP) documents with guidance.
  • Implement proactive quality management plans and resolve any service or quality issues based on agreed-upon specifications.

Financial Management/Business Development Support:

  • Ensure services and quality align with agreed-upon timelines and deliverables in the contract/Scope of Work (SOW).
  • Manage SOW and budget, reviewing financial reports monthly and participating in project reviews as needed.
  • Identify out-of-scope tasks and track change orders to completion.
  • Support Project Manager roles for single service DM projects, including financial tracking, revenue recognition, and invoicing.
  • Participate in and support the RFP process, including reviewing RFP documents, pricing, and attending bid defense.

Other:

  • Provide input on DM process improvements and project solutions to CDM team/CDM department.
  • Contribute input on the development and implementation of new technologies or tools.
  • Participate in focus teams or global/local best practice teams.
  • Perform other duties as directed by functional manager(s).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in health, clinical, biological, or mathematical sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct Data Management experience, including at least 1 year as a CDM project lead.
  • Previous experience in managing study delivery through the full DM life-cycle, including medium Phase III studies.
  • Demonstrated data management skills and thorough knowledge of the data management process, including therapeutic area expertise, DM processes, SAE reconciliation, external data vendor reconciliation, and local laboratory data management.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology, Pharmacology, Anatomy, and/or Physiology.
  • Knowledge of operating procedures and work instructions and the ability to apply them in practice.
  • Familiarity with operating procedures, work instructions, Good Clinical Practices, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, customer service, and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, utilizing available resources.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the clinical drug development process.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and customers.

Question 2: How do you approach client management and maintaining strong customer relationships? Answer: Client management is crucial in ensuring project success. I act as the primary point of contact for customers, working closely with their data managers and key decision makers. I establish clear channels of communication to manage continuous process improvements, issue escalations, and workload projections. I believe in maintaining transparent and open communication with customers to ensure their needs are met and contractual obligations are fulfilled. This approach has helped me build and maintain strong customer relationships throughout my projects.

Question 3 : Can you provide an example of a situation where you had to address service or quality issues in a data management project? How did you handle it? Answer: Certainly. In a recent project, we encountered discrepancies between the data provided by external vendors and our internal data. I immediately initiated discussions with the involved parties, including client data managers and internal team members, to identify the root cause. I collaborated with my functional manager to implement corrective measures and improve the data reconciliation process. Through effective communication, we resolved the issue within the project timeline, ensuring that the quality of deliverables was maintained.

Question 4: How do you ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practices (GCPs) and regulatory guidelines in your data management projects? Answer:  Ensuring compliance is a fundamental aspect of data management. I maintain a comprehensive understanding of GCPs and applicable regulatory guidelines, and I ensure that my team adheres to these standards throughout the project lifecycle. I incorporate these guidelines into the data management plans and processes, conduct regular quality checks, and promptly address any compliance issues that arise. By following these practices, I ensure that our deliverables meet the highest quality and regulatory standards.

Question 5: Can you share your approach to financial management and business development support for data management projects? Answer: Financial management and business development support are essential for successful project execution. I actively review project financial reports to ensure alignment with agreed-upon budgets and timelines. I’m adept at identifying out-of-scope tasks and tracking change orders to completion, thereby preventing potential financial discrepancies. Additionally, I participate in the project review process and contribute to proposals, leveraging my insights into project requirements, timelines, and resource allocation to provide accurate pricing and bid defense support.
