Here are five possible interview questions that could be asked in the technical round for the mentioned job along with their answers:

Question 1: Can you please elaborate on your Ph.D. research and how it aligns with the areas of biophysics, structural biology, virology, immunology, spectroscopy, or microscopy? Answer: During my Ph.D., I conducted extensive research in the field of virology, specifically focusing on understanding the structural changes in viral proteins using spectroscopy techniques. I have hands-on experience in various spectroscopy and microscopy techniques, which are directly relevant to this role’s requirements. My work has equipped me with a solid foundation in these areas.

Question 2: The job requires prior experience in protein expression and purification in both mammalian and bacterial systems. Could you share your experience and any challenges you faced during these processes? Answer: Certainly. I have successfully carried out protein expression and purification in both mammalian and bacterial systems. One of the challenges I encountered was optimizing the expression conditions to achieve high yields of soluble and functional proteins. I used a combination of different expression vectors and induction strategies to overcome this challenge.

Question 3: Describe your familiarity with various cellular imaging techniques, especially fluorescence imaging microscopy. Can you provide an example of a project where you applied these techniques effectively? Answer: I have practical experience in cellular imaging techniques, including widefield, confocal, TIRF, and super-resolution microscopy. In a recent project, I investigated the subcellular localization of a specific protein in live cells using confocal microscopy. This allowed me to observe dynamic cellular processes and make meaningful conclusions about protein localization and interactions.

Question 4: The role requires proficiency in Zoom/Skype online interviews. Can you discuss any previous instances where you’ve used these platforms for scientific presentations or discussions? Answer: Absolutely. I’ve utilized both Zoom and Skype for scientific discussions and presentations. For instance, during an international conference, I presented my research findings to a global audience via Zoom. I’ve also used these platforms for virtual collaborations with colleagues, facilitating seamless communication despite geographical distances.

Question 5: The project is supported by the DBT-Wellcome Trust India Alliance. Can you explain your understanding of the significance of this partnership and its potential impact on scientific research in India? Answer: The DBT-Wellcome Trust India Alliance is a collaborative effort that aims to foster high-quality research in the life sciences. It provides funding and support to innovative projects, enabling scientists to address critical scientific questions. This partnership significantly boosts research capabilities in India, encouraging interdisciplinary collaborations and driving advancements in areas like biophysics, structural biology, and other relevant fields. It facilitates access to resources and expertise that can elevate the quality of scientific output.
