Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar, an autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India invites applications from eligible Indian Nationals for the following project positions.

Principal Investigator: Dr. S.K. Raghav, Scientist-F, ILS, Bhubaneswar

I. Projects Title: “Genomic Surveillance for SARS-CoV-2 In India: Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG)-Phase II”.

Position: 1. Project Associate-II: (01 position)

Remuneration: Rs. 35,000/- per month + @16% HRA

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates having M.Sc. / M. Tech / M. Pharm. / M.V.Sc. or equivalent qualification in Life Sciences or allied subjects (Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology, Microbiology, etc.) with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (relaxation will be given as per GOI guideline) with 2 years of experience in research work are eligible to apply.
  • Preference will be given to national-level entrance test (NET/GATE/GPAT) qualified candidates. For non-NET/GATE candidates, the fellowship would be applicable as per DST guidelines. Research experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques will be preferred.

Age Limit: The candidate should be below 35 years in age, as on 7th June 2023. Age relaxation will be given to the candidates as per Govt. of India rules.

Position: 2. Project Scientist I (01 position)

Remuneration: Rs. 56,000/- per month + @16% HRA

Eligibility Criteria: Ph.D. in any branch of Biological Science/ Life Science. Candidates having knowledge of NGS data analysis and research experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques will be preferred.

Age Limit: The candidate should be below 35 years in age, as on 7th June 2023. Age relaxation will be given to the candidates as per Govt. of India rules

II. Projects Title: DBT funded project “Evaluation of genetic diversity of underutilized species of Western Himalayan Bioresources based on molecular and genomic characterization”

Position: 4. Project Associate-II: Bioinformatics (01 position)

Remuneration: Rs. 35,000/- per month + @16% HRA

Eligibility & Selection: Candidates having M.Sc. / M. Tech / M. Pharm. / M.V.Sc. or equivalent qualification in Life Sciences or allied subjects (Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology, Microbiology, etc.) with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (relaxation will be given as per GOI guideline) with 2 years of experience in research work are eligible to apply.

Preference will be given to national-level entrance test (NET/GATE/GPAT) qualified candidates. For non-NET/GATE candidates, the fellowship would be applicable as per DST guidelines. For bioinformatician, the knowledge of programming language, R-Bioconductor, NGS data analysis along with research experience will be preferred.

Age Limit: The candidate should be below 35 years in age as on 7th June 2023. An age relaxation will be given as per Govt. of India rules.

Job Specification: The person should be responsible for analyzing next-generation sequencing data.

III. Projects Title: DBT funded project “Documentation and Validation of Traditional Healthcare Knowledge of Indian Himalayan Region: Translational approach”

Position: 5. Laboratory Technician (01 position)

Remuneration: Rs. 20,000/- per month + @16% HRA

Eligibility & Selection: B.Sc. in any branch of Life Science or 3 years diploma in Engineering and technology. Candidates having working experience in biological research laboratories will be preferred. The person should be proficient in using Microsoft word and excel.

Job Specification: Travel to field for Collection of plant extracts, compounds from traditional healers, collaborating institutes, blood sample collection, ordering of consumables for lab, data entry etc.

IV. Project Title: SERB Funded project “ZBTB10: A Potential Trigger For Dendritic Cell Immune Responses”

Position: 6. Junior Research Fellow (01 Position)

Fellowship: Rs. 31,000/- + @ 16% HRA per month

Essential Qualification: Candidates having M.Sc. or equivalent qualification in Life Sciences or allied subjects such as Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics/ Microbiology, etc. with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade point (50% marks for OBC/ST/SC) are eligible to apply. Candidates should have national-level qualifications like NET-JRF/NETLS/GATE/GPAT.
Research experience in cell culture and immunological techniques like FACS, and ELISA will be preferred.

Age Limit: The candidate should be below 28 years in age, as on 7th June 2023. Age relaxation will be given to the candidates as per Govt. of India rules.
