Are you looking for some possible interview questions for the role of JRF/SRF at RGCB, then read below
- What motivated you to apply for this JRF/SRF position at RGCB, and how do your qualifications align with the requirements of this job?
Answer: As an MSc graduate in Biotech/Life Sciences/Genetics, I am eager to apply my knowledge and hands-on experience in basic molecular techniques to contribute to cutting-edge research projects such as those funded by the DBT and led by Dr. Devasena Anantharaman. I have a first-class Master’s degree from a recognized university and have received training in nucleic acid isolation, PCR, RTPCR, and other basic techniques while working in a research institute. I possess good communication skills and have the ability to work collaboratively in a team. - What are some of the experimental methodologies you have previously used to study genetic, epigenetic, and miRNA regulation, and how do you plan to apply them to the project led by Dr. Devasena Anantharaman?
Answer: I have previously worked on a project that involved studying the role of epigenetic modifications in regulating gene expression in cancer cells using techniques such as chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assays and bisulfite sequencing. I have also used RNA-seq to study the expression of miRNAs in response to environmental stressors. For the project led by Dr. Devasena Anantharaman, I plan to use similar techniques to study the regulatory mechanisms underlying specific biological processes or disease states of interest. - What are some of the challenges you have faced while conducting basic molecular techniques, and how did you overcome them?
Answer: One of the challenges I have faced while conducting basic molecular techniques is contamination of the sample with external DNA or RNA. To overcome this, I always wear gloves, use sterile instruments, and work in a laminar flow hood. Another challenge I have faced is optimizing PCR conditions to obtain specific and reproducible results. To overcome this, I perform gradient PCR or change the annealing temperature and cycle number until I obtain the desired results. - How do you plan to extend your knowledge and skills beyond this JRF/SRF position at RGCB, and what are your long-term career goals?
Answer: I plan to attend conferences, workshops, and webinars to keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field of biotechnology and genetics. I also plan to network with researchers from diverse backgrounds to gain new perspectives and insights. My long-term career goal is to pursue a Ph.D. in a related field and become an independent researcher, contributing to the understanding and treatment of complex diseases.
