Summary

At Narayana Health, Dept. Of Laboratory Medicine, our flow cytometry facility has been functional since 9 years with basic to advanced flow cytometric tests (platform being BD FACS Canto II and newly introduced FACSLyric). Ours is a NABL accredited lab with on -going CAP accreditation program. The hospital has NABH and JCI accreditation. As bone marrow transplant procedures have increased in number, and new therapeutic modalities have come up, ours being a pioneer center for newer therapies that depend on flow cytometric assays , we have gradually expanded our activity menu to include these assays. Hence, we are looking for dedicated, experienced, and talented quick learners who will help the facility to grow and add new test parameters to in-house DoS. The flow cytometry technician’s role includes conducting microscopic and bacteriologic tests to obtain data and produce test results. This person will perform and record all tests in accordance with the quality and clinical norms. Below are a list of the job responsibilities:

Job Responsibilities:

  • CD34 stem cell enumeration
  • Processing and Acquiring data for ALCD, MRD, PN, absolute counts, CAP and TMH EQAS samples.
  • Daily QC checks and maintenance log
  • Processing EQAS Samples for proficiency testing
  • Preparing cocktails & doing titration of antibodies
  • Troubleshooting and preventive maintenance with the help of application specialist
  • Flow MSDS &Inventory management
  • Proper record keeping & retention policy.
  • To ensure timely receipt of the samples and processing
  • Checking for adequacy of the samples for testing, hemolysis & lipemia
  • Taking worksheet printouts
  • To know implement of IPSG goals.
  • Running daily QC, weekly and monthly IQC program, EQAS & ILQA
  • Communicating validated, consultant approved results to the staff.
  • Recording and Maintaining temperature log
  • Running daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of all equipment’s
  • Updating reagents consumed and anticipating stock of reagents and indent accordingly.
  • Completion & Verification of the reports
  • Preparing stains/ reagents
  • Managing policy documents concerning NABL, NABH, JCI & CAP
  • Responsible for the smooth functioning of the lab
  • Basic excel system work.

  1. What experience do you have in conducting flow cytometric assays?
    Answer: As a technologist, I have 3-4 years of experience in conducting flow cytometric assays. I have worked on platforms such as BD FACS Canto II and FACSLyric and have performed tests such as CD34 stem cell enumeration, MRD, PN, and absolute counts. I am familiar with the daily QC checks, maintenance logs, and processing of proficiency testing samples.
  2. How do you ensure quality and accuracy in your test results?
    Answer: I follow the quality and clinical norms while performing and recording all tests. I perform daily, weekly, and monthly QC checks, IQC programs, and proficiency testing to ensure accuracy and precision. I also maintain a temperature log, manage inventory and reagent consumption, and troubleshoot issues with the help of application specialists.
  3. Can you describe your experience with managing policy documents concerning NABL, NABH, JCI, and CAP?
    Answer: Yes, as a technologist, I am responsible for managing policy documents concerning NABL, NABH, JCI, and CAP. I am familiar with the documentation requirements for each accreditation and ensure that we comply with them. I maintain records of all policies, procedures, and quality control activities, and ensure that they are updated as per the accreditation requirements. I also participate in internal audits to ensure compliance with the policies and procedures.
