Psychology Of Exam Toppers – Must Watch For All Entrance Exam Aspirants

There is a saying which goes – “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”

This quote has profound importance in today’s video.

I am not here to tell you how to become a topper – I am here to dive into the psychology of exam toppers and how we can think like one.

When you think like a topper you have a chance to become one.

We will be discussing key pointers – but keep in mind nothing about the subject rather a bird’s eye view of how to prepare for your CSIR NET & GATE Exams

Success is predictable

Success is predictable when you follow a plan. Like in cooking, you follow the recipe and you will get the desired outcome. You may be sceptical of this fact but take it from me – someone who has been in this industry for 15 years and have seen it all.

Success is predictable if you follow the toppers formula.

Point 1 – Dream big start small

Dream big, but start small. Start with a small piece of your preparation – be it

the first unit or first chapter. Focus on the now, on the present and get into the momentum.

Basically, build momentum – break the process into steps follow it step by step and build your momentum.

There is no elevator to success. You have to take the stairs!

Point 2 Direction matters

Now you have started but where are you going? You need to have a direction or path to be followed. Develop a clear sense of direction. And it all starts with planning, which unit you will start and when you will end and then subsequently which you will tackle next.

Planning will help you measure the progress in the direction you have set for yourself.

Point 3 See yourself as a topper

Why is it important to visualize? Even if you have 1% doubt then that will not help you qualify, forget about becoming a topper. Visualize and then work backwards.

Point 4 Study what you love to study

You have a plan and direction, now for momentum – prioritize what you love to study. Fall in love with the subject. So start with what interests you, so once you study the topic you like, momentum will build and then you can execute your plan.

Point 5 Commit to excellence

Don’t focus on quantity – focus on quality. What is the point of studying 15 hours if you are not happy with your preparation? So ensure that you study well and improvise on your study methods daily.

Point 6 Study longer & study harder in a smarter way

Work smart – Don’t study for longer than 45 mins to 60 mins. Immediately hydrate yourself and do light exercises like stretching. So that you can refresh your mind and last in this marathon. Toppers don’t study continuously, they take small breaks – intelligent breaks.

Point 7 Live long learner

Learning is a skill. Every day is an opportunity to learn. Develop the learning ability.

Point 8 Health first knowledge next

MPS – Mental, Physical and Spiritual Health matters. Meditation, exercise, Yoga are ways you can keep these factors in check. Health is wealth.

Don’t study just to pass or qualify for an exam. Make sure you learn something for life. Knowledge is wealth. Enjoy the process.

Never procrastinate. Put yourself first and prioritize your success.

Point 9 Be a master of 7 than having superficial knowledge of 13

Don’t have a superficial knowledge of all units. Focus on 7 at least and master them. Don’t become a jack of all trades and master of none.

Point 10 Teaching others is the best way to teach yourself

This is my favourite way to learn. Because as you teach someone you become clearer and more thorough in the topic. As you gain the confidence you can learn concepts better.

Point 11 Practice Revise Practice

Practice decision making, timing and concepts. Try out Biotecnika’s AIMNET test series and check how well prepared you are. Find out your weak areas and work on them.

Point 12 Develop Speed and time it

Make sure you don’t spend more than 5 mins on each Part C question, 3 minutes per Part B Question and more than 1 minute per Part A question. Improve your question reading speed and dedicate more importance to Part C questions.

Point 13 Be prepared to handle setbacks

Generally, applicants prepare for 6 to 8 months. None of us dreamed of COVID and look what happened. So be mentally prepared for unforeseen circumstances.

Tame circumstances according to you and don’t let them deter you from your goals.

Point 14 Unlock your inborn creativity

Most people think making notes is waste of time. But when you make creative notes – where your brain gets activated, that’s when you retain concepts better. Turning a paragraph into a table is something that helps grasp things quicker.

Point 15 Get around the right people

The right mentor leads in the right direction. Look for the right people and surround yourself with such people. Experience matters – just look at YouTube, who are the people who’ve been there for ages and are still successful at guiding people? Follow only them, not new flashy inexperienced individuals.

Point 16 Decisive and action-oriented

Be action-oriented and decisive. You need to make quick decisions during the exams and even during your preparation. Without execution, every plan is a bad plan.

Point 17 Failure is not an option

Toppers don’t keep a plan B. They are in the success mindset. They have a laser focus on Plan A.

Point 18 Persistence and optimistic

Being persistent helps you keep the momentum. If you are internally motivated only then you can succeed. Do not depend on external factors to motivate you, since they are short-lived. Find that fire from within and keep it burning.

Point 19 Never self-doubt

Self-doubt is like rust to iron. Be strong and firm in your abilities to succeed.

Point 20 Invest in the right coaching

Right education doesn’t come. Nothing free comes without a catch. This is the Psychology Of Exam Toppers. They will make investments in the future. Nothing comes free and easy.
