Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune is a premier autonomous Institution established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, for the promotion of high-quality science education and research in the country.

Institute invites applications from Indian nationals for the following posts purely on a temporary and contractual basis under the project titled “SARS Covid-2 genome sequencing and environmental surveillance” funded by a private agency:

Post I 

Name of the Post – Technical Assistant (TA)

No. of Posts – 01

Age – Not more than 28 years as of the last date of application

Tenure of the appointment – Originally for a period of six months extendable for further
period subject to satisfactory performance of the incumbent, need for services and continuation of the project.

Post II 

Name of the Post –

; Project Assistant (PA)

No. of Posts – 03

Age – Not more than 30 years as of the last date of application

Tenure of the appointment – Originally for a period of six months extendable for further
period subject to satisfactory performance of the incumbent, need for services and continuation of the project.

Post III 

Name of the Post – Post-Doctoral Fellow (PDF)

No. of Posts – 02

Age –

• PDF: Not more than 35 years as on the last date of application
• SRF: Not more than 32 years as on the last date of application

Tenure of the appointment – Originally for a period of six months extendable for further
period subject to satisfactory performance of the incumbent, need for services and continuation of the project.

• Recent passport size photographs and photocopies of relevant certificates and other
  testimonials in support of age, qualification, experience etc. will be collected and verified
  at an appropriate stage.

General Information/details about the posts –

1. The appointment is purely temporary and will terminate automatically without any notice
   or compensation on termination of the project.
2. The appointed person shall have no claim of appointment/absorption in Funding Agency
   or in IISER Pune.
3. The appointment of the applicant will be governed by the terms and conditions of the
   funding agency particularly applicable to the said project.
4. The qualification prescribed should have been obtained from recognized Universities /
   Institutions.
5. The prescribed educational qualification/s are the bare minimum and mere possession
   of the same does not entitle candidates to be considered for the selection process. Where the number of applications received in response to this advertisement is large, it may not be convenient or possible to carry out the selection process for all the candidates. Based on the recommendations of the Project Investigator, the number of candidates to be called for the selection process may be restricted to a reasonable limit after taking into consideration qualification/s and experience/s over and above the minimum prescribed in the advertisement. Therefore, it will be in the interest of the candidates, to mention all the qualifications and experience in the relevant field in the application form at the time of applying.
6. Age relaxation commensurate with educational qualification and relevant experience may be considered with the prior approval of the competent authority for candidates having qualifications and experience are higher than the advertised.
7. In case, a selected candidate does not join or resigns after joining the post, waitlisted
   candidate/s may be offered the position.
8. No TA/DA will be admissible for appearing for the interview.
9. No interim enquiries/correspondence/communication of any sort will be entertained on the matter.
10. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing any influence, political, or otherwise, will be
    treated as a disqualification for the post applied for.

For Post I

Minimum Educational Qualifications –

• B. Sc. / B. Tech in Life Sciences from a recognized University / Institute with minimum 60% marks / equivalent grade.
• Additional percentage cut-off may be applied during the screening process if needed.

Consolidated emoluments – Rs. 25,000/- per month

For Post II

Minimum Educational Qualifications –

• M. Sc. / M. Tech in Life Sciences from a recognized University / Institute with minimum 60% marks / equivalent grade.
• Additional percentage cut-off may be applied during the screening process if needed.

Preference –

Candidates having experience of working in:

1. COVID-19 testing lab / BSL -2 laboratory
2. Handling RT-PCR equipment will be preferred

Consolidated emoluments – Rs. 35,000/- per month

For Post III

Minimum Educational Qualifications –

• Ph.D. in Biology / Genomics / Bioinformatics / Biostatistics or related fields, and evidence of scientific productivity through publications in international journals.
• Candidates who have submitted their thesis are also eligible.

Preference –

Candidates having the following experience will be preferred:

1. Expertise in analyzing RNA-seq and WGS next-generation sequencing data, variant calling in NGS data.
2. Experience in working with programming languages like Perl or Python or R and adept in large data analysis and data representation.

Consolidated emoluments –

1. PDF: Rs. 50,000/- per month
2. Candidates who have submitted their thesis but not completed defence (i.e. candidates without a provisional certificate of having qualified for the degree), will be designated as Senior Research Fellow (SRF) and paid Rs. 35,000/- per month till the time of submission of Provisional Ph.D. certificate.
