Subject: DBT-Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF) National Program – Extension of Fellowship due to COVID-19 Pandemic.
Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India taking cognizance of COVID 19 pandemic on planned research work of Fellows working under DBT-JRF (National Program) in Universities/institutes for doctoral research and, has approved the extension of the tenure of the fellowship for a period of up-to six months with 50% Fellowship (including HRA) to complete the research work originally planned and suffered due to lockdown.
2. The extension is applicable to Fellows working under DBT-JRF (National Program) which were completed/will be completing tenure during 1st April to 30th September, 2021. This will be a one-time measure and no further extension beyond the six months will be considered. Fellowship and HRA (wherever applicable) will be provided at 50% of existing rates during the extension period but no contingency grant will be provided for this period.
3. Fellows who fulfill the above-mentioned criteria and wish to seek
extension of their fellowship tenure should submit the extension request with details of research work originally planned and affected due to lockdown forwarded by PhD Supervisor to following coordinating agency:4.
