Special Call on Critical Components and Innovations in Oxygen Concentrators (Joint
SERB-TDB Call)

Considering emerging healthcare requirements to combat the COVID 19 epidemic,
SERB announces a special call to catalyze R&D on critical components and innovations
concerning Make-in-India Oxygen Concentrators.

The call seeks investigation and innovation in the development of (individual/portable) oxygen concentrators in domains of alternate materials and mechanisms for oxygen separation; design, development, and manufacturing of critical components such as valves and oil-less compressors, design improvements for greater performance, AI-optimized oxygen flow devices, and oxygen-level IoT sensors etc.

Scientist in regular service from educational and research institutes/ laboratories,
universities, and medical institutions, start-ups and industries can submit a proposal. The scientists from industries should align with investigators from academic / research institutions as co-investigators. Funding for industry partner(s), with respect to R&D leading to commercialization, will be

forwarded to TDB, DST, for their consideration.

The duration of the project is one year, and the component of the grant is similar to other projects supported by SERB.

Proposals should be submitted in the prescribed format through the SERB online portal:
www.serbonline.in.

How to Submit

For successful online submission of the application the following points may be noted:

  • Applicant(s) should first register on the online website.
  • After login, go to Menu-> Proposal Submission-> Form Submission.
  • Choose Scheme: “Short-term special call on COVID-19” and click on the ‘Start Submission’ button.
  • If you have CO-PI in your proposal, then ensure that all the CO-PIs are also registered into the system following the same procedure and have completed their profile (Menu-> User Profile -> Profile Details) after registration.
  • Some of the details of your proposal like Project Title (max 500 characters), Project summary (max 3000 characters), Keywords (max 6), Objectives of the project (max 1500 characters), Expected output and outcome of the proposal (max 1500 characters), Budget (Manpower, Consumables, Travel, Equipment, Contingency, Overheads) must be entered at the time of proposal submission.
  • Other relevant information of the proposal must be uploaded in a single PDF file not more than 10 MB as other technical documents (OTD). Download Template

Other eligibility conditions as applicable to CRG projects are to be followed.

The last date of submission is June 15, 2021, at 5:00 pm.
