Background and Scope:

The goal of this 15 days short-term training course is to highlight a variety of aspects of Drosophila development as a model organism in interdisciplinary research. This STTC includes hands-on training, demonstrations and lectures from experts and members of the
core committee in the relevant fields.

Objective of the Course:

  • To provide cutting-edge laboratory research techniques in biological science, health science, animal science and pharmaceutical to faculty, mid-career UG/ PG scientists, and researchers.
  • To use Drosophila as a model organism for research in the field of nanobiotechnology, particularly in the areas of safety analysis and toxicity assessment.
  • To study the impacts of nanomaterials ingestion on fertility and reproductive performance, biochemical assays and behavioral assays of Drosophila.
  • To facilitate the exchange of information and expertise on Drosophila genetics in undergraduate and graduate education, as well as Nano-biotechnology, neurodegenerative disease, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology.

Major Highlights of the Course:

  • Introduction to Drosophila fruit fly and culturing techniques in laboratory.
  • Demonstration of Drosophila field collection techniques in the field.
  • Drosophila sex and species identification and separation.
  • Knowledge of Drosophila species and mutants.
  • The importance/preparation of the Drosophila polytene chromosome and imaginal discs.
    ♦ Wnt signalling and regulation of Drosophila.
  • lmmunostaining of imaginal disc of Drosophila
  • Better utilization of Drosophila in UG/PG teaching.
    ♦ DNA and proteins synthesis and visualization.
  • Impacts of nanomaterials ingestion on fertility and reproductive performance of Drosophila.
    ♦ Impacts of nanomaterials ingestion on biochemical assays and behavioural assays of Drosophila.
  • Therapeutic applications of nanomaterials in life sciences and pharmacology
  • Carbon doVquantum dots synthesis and their conjugates.
  • Safety analysis and toxicity evaluation of nanomaterials on Drosophila.
  • Drosophila neurodegenerative models vs. nanotechnology.
  • Oxidative stress mediated by nanoparticles analysis on Drosophila.
  • Tissue engineering using nanostructured scaffolds.
  • Future of Nanotechnology in a medical application for the defence sector
  • Regulatory aspect towards approval and biosafety measurement
  • Study of nanoconjugates with antibiotics, curcumin, egg white proteins etc.
  • Functionalization of nanoconjugate proteins for therapeutic applications
  • Bioremediation of textile dyes using nanoparticles
  • Challenges and advances in Nano pharmaceuticals
  • Future prospective of nanobiotechnology

    Actually sir I am Ashish Arora and I am pursuing BTech biotechnology from Amity University, noida.
    So, sir I am looking for an internship to enhance my knowledge and get an experience in my field of work and like a one month internship from the middle of May to June.
