The period of the contractual engagement will initially be for a duration of 01 (one) year,
which is most likely to be extended based on the applicant’s performance and also project

Name of the Project: Assessment of spatial and temporal occupancy of tiger and elephant in relation to habitat characteristics and anthropogenic factors for the creation of EcoSensitive Areas in Sawantwadi and Dodamarg talukas of Sindhudurg district in Western Ghats of Maharashtra, India

Position: Technical Assistant (Genetics)

Name of the Project: Long-term research in the State of Maharashtra

Age: 50

Mode of Selection and other conditions:

  1. The selection of the applicants will be in accordance with the performance in the
    interview and in order of merit as decided by the Interview Committee. All original
    documents need to be produced at the time of interview. The decision of the Institute’s Committee in all matters relating to eligibility, work experience, acceptance or rejection of the application will certainly be final and binding on the applicants as well as no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained from any individual.
  2. The applicants are needed to submit their completed application in PDF format, with accompanying attachments, by e-mail (with the subject line: “Application for the post of ___________ in Project No ____”) to [email protected] not later than 1700 hrs on 10th Jan 2021.
  3. The application requires to be typed according to the suggested format (must consist of SOP) as well as must be accompanied by:
    a. Scanned copies of educational qualifications,
    b. Scanned copies of experience letter/ certification, otherwise, they will be rejected.
  4. Send separate applications while applying for multiple posts.
  5. The applications received after the deadline will certainly also be rejected by the Institute.
  6. The shortlisted candidates will certainly be notified (via email and web site notification).
    for on-line personal interview by 14th Jan. 2021. The interview will certainly be held on 21st Jan. 2021 from 1000 hrs onwards. The selection will certainly be made based upon the online personal interview scheduled on 21st Jan. 2021.
  7. At the time of verification of original documents, if it is found that an attempt has been made by the applicant to wilfully conceal, misrepresent or canvass the facts, his/her candidature will not be considered.
  8. The positions advertised are purely temporary/ contractual for the project period only and will certainly stand abolished after the conclusion of the project.
  9. The period in the project will certainly be governed by the Institute’s rules and policies.
  10. Relaxation in age will be given according to Govt. of India standards.
  11. After the announcement of the results, the candidate must join the project immediately.
  12. Director, WII reserves the right to reject any kind of candidature in view of incomplete.

For Post I

Essential Qualification: Master’s degree in Life Sciences / Zoology/ Botany/ Agriculture or related fields from a recognized University.

Desirable Qualification: Demonstrated experience (04 years)/ aptitude in a) spatial
analysis and ecological modelling, b) statistical analysis, c) project design and coordination of multidisciplinary project team and field data collection c) research publications in peer-reviewed national/ international journals.

Work Description: The candidate will coordinate a multi-disciplinary team and conduct field research, surveys, data collection, analysis, and report-writing. Candidate should have minimum of 4 years of experience of working in conservation-related projects.

Emoluments: Rs. 42,000 plus 16 percent HRA


For Post II

Essential Qualification: Master’s degree in Life Sciences / Zoology/ Botany/ Agriculture or related fields from a recognized University.

Desirable Qualification: Candidate(s) with prior experience in bioacoustics, abundance
estimation using camera trapping and distance sampling, and radiotelemetry will be preferred. Knowledge of GIS and GPS is desirable. Should be able to undertake arduous fieldwork under rigorous conditions.

Work Description: Candidates conduct field research, surveys, data collection, analysis and report writing.

Emoluments: Rs. 31,000 plus 16 percent HRA


For Post III

Essential Qualification: Master’s degree in Life Sciences / Zoology/ Botany/ Agriculture or related fields from a recognized university AND Two (02) years research experience in the relevant field.

Desirable Qualification: Candidate(s) with prior experience in abundance estimation using camera trapping and distance sampling, and radiotelemetry will be preferred. Knowledge of GIS and GPS is desirable. Should be able to undertake arduous field
work under rigorous conditions.

Work Description: Candidates conduct field research, surveys, data collection, analysis and report writing.

Emoluments: Rs. 35,000 plus 16 percent HRA


For Post IV

Essential Qualification: B.Sc in Life Sciences/ Biotechnology/ Animal Genetics/ from a
recognized university. Experience in DNA related techniques in identifying species and other genetic parameters from various biological samples, data analysis, report writing.

Desirable Qualification: Lab experience in DNA extraction, PCR amplification, electrophoresis and genetic data analysis.

Work Description: Candidate will be involved in genetics related work of the project

Emoluments: Rs. 20,000 plus 16 percent HRA
