Systems Medicine Cluster (SyMeC): Accelerating Systems Medicine using a
Cluster Approach
In conformity with the national priority of stimulating investment in biotechnology, a Biocluster has actually been created. The Biocluster is a platform– both intellectual as well as logistical– for generating needed biological and medical evidence to accelerate systems medicine. The Biocluster comprises 6 institutions:
- Bose Institute,
- CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology,
- Indian Institute of Science Education & Research,
- Indian Statistical Institute,
- National Institute of Biomedical Genomics,
- Tata Medical Centre;
with the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics serving as the coordinating institution. The Biocluster is funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India.

Consolidated Pay: 40,000/-
Essential Qualification:
- MSc or equivalent (or BSc with 3 years of laboratory experience) in Genetics/Life Sciences/Biochemistry/related discipline;
- Minimum 3 years of experience of working with high-throughput genomics platforms.
Desirable Qualification:
- Experience in whole-genome/targeted sequencing, RNASeq, GWAS as well as Methylation Array.
- Experience in DNA and RNA isolation from archived biospecimens e.g. FFPE tissue.
Nature of Duty: Hands-on massively parallel sequencing, microarray lab work and also instrument operations as well as other related laboratory activities.
For Post II
Consolidated Pay: 40,000/-
Essential Qualification: MSc or equivalent in Life Sciences or a related subject.
Desirable Qualification:
- Experience in the life science/genomics services industry.
- Experience in project planning, oversight of time execution.
Nature of Duty: Will provide administrative support for management of project activities,
inventory management, procurement of reagents and consumables, documentation.
