SwarnaJayanti Fellowships Scheme 2019-20

The government of India had instituted a scheme Known as “SwarnaJayanti Fellowships” to commemorate India’s fiftieth year of Independence. Under this strategy, a selected number of Young scientists, together with an excellent track record, are provided special assistance and support to Let them pursue research in frontier regions of science and technology. The fellowship is Scientist specific and not institution-specific.

Scientists selected for the award will be allowed to pursue unfettered research with freedom and flexibility in terms of expenditure as approved in the research plan. The project should contain Innovative research idea and it should have a possibility of making an impact on R&D in the discipline.

The award consists of a Fellowship of Rs 25000/- per month in addition to the salary drawn from the parent Institute along with a Research Grant of Rs 5 lakh per annum by Department of Science and Technology for a period of 5 years, while the project submitted by the selected Fellows will be considered for funding by the Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) as per SERB norms, for recurring and non-recurring heads.

The length of the fellowship along with the project will be for a period not exceeding five years.

The fellowship is open to Indian Nationals having a regular position in a recognized Indian academic/research organization. The applicant should possess a PhD in Science/ Engineering/ Medicine and shouldn’t be drawing Fellowship from another Scheme of GOI.

The fellowship is open to scientists between 30 to 40 years of age as on December 31, 2018. Applications from candidates that have completed 40 years old as on or Before 31.12.2019 will not be considered.

How to Apply:

Applications for the “SwarnaJayanti Fellowships Scheme 2019-20” are invited from eligible candidates. Candidates may log on onlinedst.gov.in from 15-02-2020 to access the home page of The”DST e-PMS Portal” for details & downloading the format from SwarnaJayanti Fellowships Scheme and submit the application in online mode only. There’s no need to send a hard copy.

The last date for submission of applications is March 31, 2020, by 11:59 pm April 30, 2020 by 23:59 hrs.
