DHR-ICMR fellowship programme aims to provide advanced training in India to medical and health research personnel in cutting edge research areas related to medicine and health to create a trained human resource for carrying out advanced research activities.
Scholarships /fellowships programme to young scientists in newer regions for three Years: These fellowships aim to meet the aims of creation of inclination/attitude of research Among the young, bright students from the medical colleges/universities. In the programme A student having a bright academic record that are perusing their degrees i.e. MD/MS/MDS/MBBS/ M.Pharma/ M.Tech/ M.Sc. Etc. will be identified and will be given Scholarships up to three years in cutting edge areas of health research. These fellows will be Carrying out their research activities under the supervision of some faculty member of Institute/ medical college. The fellowship will be given on a year annually, not Exceeding three years, dependent on the satisfactory progress/ research output. Two categories of The fellowships are given below:
Category A – Fellow who holds MD/ MS/MDS/ or PhD in biomedical sciences at a Stipend of 70,000 for Medical and 60,000 for Non-medical approximate expenditure Of Rs. 8.4 lakhs per fellow per year plus a contingency grant up to Rs. 10.00 lakhs per year including Stipend.
Category B – Fellow who is MBBS /BDS/ MVSc. or M.Sc. in bio-medical sciences And having at least two years working experience in the bio-medical field. The approximate Expenditure for this fellowship is a stipend of 55,000 for Medical and 50,000 for Nonmedical about Rs. 6.6 lakhs per Fellow annually and contingency grant up to Rs 10.00 lakhs annually including stipend.
(C) Funding mechanisms
i. The fellow will submit a research proposal and shall be working with or under the supervision of a regular faculty of a Research Institute.
ii. The amount (fellowship and contingency) will be released to the institute in favour Of the Head and will be held in a separate account.
iii. The audited statement of accounts of this scheme, done by the’ statutory audit Body’, will be obtained.
iv. Work of this fellow will be reviewed periodically by the expert group and shall continue Just after receiving the satisfactory report from the expert panel.
