Call for Applications
IBAB in Collaboration with BioTecNika is organizing a hands-on-workshop on whole genome sequencing from the 10th to 12th July 2019. The workshop combines experimental and computational aspects of next-generation sequencing (NGS). The focus is on (1) the preparation of libraries from genomic DNA, with critical discussions and troubleshooting sessions, quantification and quality control of the libraries prepared and (2) current methods, tools, and pipelines to analyze the genome sequencing data.
Target Participants
This course is aimed at researchers, technicians who wish to employ genomic approaches in their work. Ph.D. students/postdoctoral fellows/JRFs/faculty involved in relevant research are eligible to apply. The course is beneficial to students pursuing B.Sc./ B.Tech./ M.Sc./M.Tech. in Biotechnology/Life Sciences/ Microbiology/ Biosciences/ Bioinformatics who wish to employ genomic approaches in their work. Teachers from undergraduate and postgraduate teaching institutions and research institutes across the state of
Karnataka are also encouraged to apply to the workshop.The participants are encouraged to bring their laptops which may be useful for downstream
processing and visualization of the data.

About Bio-IT Centre
The Bio-IT research and training center (Bio-IT Centre) has been established at The Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB) in 2010 with the support from the DeitY, Government of India and the Department of IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka. Bio-IT Centre has state-of-art sequencing facility with the HiSeq 2500 and accessories such as Qubit, Covaris, Agilent 2200 TapeStation, Stratagene Mx 3000 for next-generation sequencing, 3500 Dx Genetic Analyzer for capillary electrophoresis based sequencing, and HiScan for microarray imaging.
