About the Workshop:

Cell culture technology is now an indispensable part of molecular biology and biomedical research. Its applications range from cancer research, toxicology, drug discovery and screening, virology, genetic engineering to name a few. With the arrival of developing career options in pharmaceutical and biomedical sector together with academia, a formal training in this area may be a definite advantage to Women scientists who would like to pursue research or industrial careers in cancer and associated disciplines. This workshop targets hands-on training

in animal cell culture based assays with special attention on its applications in cancer research that helps the young researchers to carve out a niche for themselves as effective researchers within their own field of study. The workshop is designed with more emphasis on practical training (80 percent ) and theoretical lectures (20 percent ) on cell culture and cancer biology by distinguished scientists in the country. The general purpose of this training program is to equip the girls scientists with the requisite scientific proficiency to comprehend and address the aspects associated with cancer with the support of cell culture tools to delineate the molecular mechanism involved in pathogenesis of cancer.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

All women scientists from Life sciences interested in the area of cancer research. Selection of the participants will be solely based on scientific and merit justification To attend the workshop. Preference will be given for women scientists with DST WOS-A grant. The amount of candidates per batch is restricted to fifteen only.

FEE:

Recipients of continuing DST WOS-A grant may utilize the funds from the grant for TA and DA. Registration fees will be waived off for WOS-A principal investigators. Women scientists without financing are going to be offered with AC-III tier train fare. However, all the selected candidates have to bear charges towards food and Accommodation.
