The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is the apex body for Organizing, Directing, and Managing education and research in agriculture in the whole nation under the aegis of DARE, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Agricultural education plays a Significant Role in the overall growth of The nation. Taking into Consideration the significance of Agricultural education,the Education Commission in 1948 advocated the institution of Rural Faculties in the country.

Degree Programmes Available for PhD Admission:

Doctoral degree programmes are offered by AUs in 60 sub-subjects under 16 Major Subject Groups, viz. (1) Crop Sciences-I, (2)Crop Sciences-II, (3) Crop Sciences-III, (4) Horticulture, (5) Veterinary and Animal Sciences-I, (6) Veterinary and Animal Sciences-II, (7) Veterinary and Animal Sciences-III, (8) Dairy Science, Dairy Technology & Food Technology, (9) Agricultural Engineering and Technology, (10) Community Science (erstwhile Home Science), (11) Fishery Sciences

, (12) Natural Resource Management-I, (13) Natural Resource Management-II, (14) Agricultural Economics & Agri-Business Management, (15) Agricultural Extension and (16) Agricultural Statistics. Based upon compatibility with his/her own subject area at post-graduation level, the candidate
should select one Major Subject Group and from the following Table for appearing in the Competitive Examination. The candidate is required to attempt questions from all of the Sub-subjects listed under a Major Subject Group.

Candidate should select one major subject-group among the following for appearing in the Entrance Examination, based on the compatibility with his/her own subject area at his/her graduation level. The sub- subject choices, within the major subject-group in which the candidate qualifies the entrance examination, will be available at the time of online counseling.

Degree Programme Available for BSc Admissions:

During this academic session, admission to 11 Bachelor degree programmes of four years
duration in the subjects of: (i) Agriculture (ii) Horticulture (iii) Fisheries (iv) Forestry (v)
Community Science (erstwhile Home Science) (vi) Food Nutrition and Dietetics (Subject to
accreditation by National Agricultural Education Accreditation Board ) (vii) Sericulture (viii)
Biotechnology (ix) Agricultural Engineering (x) Dairy Technology (xi) Food Technology is available to Indian Nationals based on merit-rank in ICAR’s All India Entrance Examination-2018.

Eligibility:

UG

Candidate should have passed 10+2 Senior Secondary Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education or any other examination in range and regular found to be equal to the Senior Secondary Examination of some recognised Indian Board/university (Annexure-VII) following a span of 12 decades of analysis.  The medium of education in the admitting University is going to be English.

Candidate needs to have passed any of the qualifying examinations enumerated above securing less than 50% marks in aggregate for General, OBC(NCL) and UPS categories and 40% marks in aggregate for SC, ST and PC categories. There’ll not be any rounding-off of this OGPA/percentage of marks qualifying examination whilst determining the basic eligibility of any candidate for entry e.g. when a candidate got 49.99 percent marks in their qualifying exam, then it won’t be rounded-off to 50 percent.
Candidate with a compartment/ supplementary in some of those subjects won’t be qualified unless evidence of having eliminated the exam together with requisite percent as in 3.2.1(ii)(a) above can be obtained.

Candidate already appeared in the qualifying exam enumerated previously, may also apply but might be asked to submit proof of having fulfilled the requirements in 3.2.1 (I) & (ii), newest from the counselling date/admission, as the candidature will be automatically cancelled.

PG

The candidate should have passed Bachelor level examination procuring Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of 6.60/10.00 at ten-point scale, 3.25/5.00 in five-point scale, 2.60/4.00 at four-point scale for both General, OBC and UPS classes whereas for SC/ST/Physically Challenged (PC) applicants, the stated requirement is the OGPA of 5.60/10.00, 2.75/5.00, 2.20/4.00, respectively. In other scenarios, where grade-points aren’t granted and marks are granted, the candidate should have secured at least 60% marks for General, OBC and UPS classes, whereas for SC/ST/PC categories that the requirement is 50% marks. (Please be aware that equivalence between OGPA and percent marks won’t be okay). There’ll not be any rounding-off of this OGPA/percentage of marks qualifying exam whilst determining the basic eligibility of any candidate for entry e.g. when a candidate got 49.99 percent marks in their qualifying evaluation, then it won’t be rounded-off to 50 percent.

Ph.D :

Indian nationals having passed Master’s Degree programme procuring a Total Grade Point Average (OGPA) of 6.50/10.00 scale, 3.25/5.00 scale, 2.60/4.00 scale for General, OBC (NCL) and UPS Categories and also 5.50/10.00, 2.75/5.00, 2.20/4.00 scale for SC/ST/Physically Challenged (PC) categories, respectively from any recognized University in India and overseas would qualify. In other scenarios, where grade-points aren’t granted and marks are given, the candidate should have secured at least 60% marks for General, OBC (NCL) and UPS class. Degree within the discipline of Agriculture and Allied sciences.

  1. Just qualifying the exam won’t guarantee JRF/SRF. Only those candidates will qualify for JRF/SRF who are from the merit list and following counselling join the University within given time.
  2. Depending upon his or her merit and selection of seat at a specific University, the candidate will be given a letter of recommendation from ADG(HRD) for admission to Ph.D. degree programme, indicating that the award of JRF/SRF(PGS), if appropriate, in the time of online counselling. The Council doesn’t issue another certification to the candidates to the award of JRF/SRF(PGS).
  3. For specific subjects/courses, the Faculties might have different/additional eligibility conditions/criteria than those recorded in the next Table. It’s the obligation of the candidate to test his eligibility in the time of counselling together with the official(s) of this University where entrance is desired. The listing of Faculties together with the contact information of Registrars for seeking admission to Ph.D. programmes is awarded in Annexure-VI.
  4. The in-service applicants qualifying for entrance will arrange for study leave/leave of this sort due from their various associations themselves and ICAR won’t intervene in this respect.
  5. The in-service applicants must be operating in ICAR Institutes, DUs, SAUs, CAUs, CUs having faculty of agriculture, Central Government/State Government Departments working in Agriculture and Allied Sectors and Public Sector Undertakings coping with Agriculture and Allied Sectors (Annexure IV).  In-service candidates desirous of entry in ICAR-DUs must appear in the national level entrance examination conducted by the respective DU.

How to Apply:

  1. Online application and downloadable Info Bulletin will be available on ICAR Sites (www.icar.org.in or www.aieea.net).
  2. E-Admit Card comprising advice regarding Roll Number, Centre and Venue of Examination, etc. could be  Downloadable 14.06.2018 onwardsfrom that the ICAR site by supplying the Login details. Login ID is your Program No. Of this candidate.
  3. A candidate is permitted to submit 1 application only. When a candidate submits more than 1 application, his/her Candidature will be cancelled.
  4. Incomplete application with unclear photograph, non-payment of requisite fee sum or level lesser than prescribed Fee or with no legal Govt. Identity number (Aadhaar amount or 28 digit Aadhaar Enrolment ID or passport number or Ration card number or driving license number or some other legitimate Govt. ID card number)will be summarily rejected without a correspondence shall be entertained in this regard.
  5. After first measure of internet enrollment, the candidate will find the Login details (Application No. {And Password) on pc Display and through SMS in his registered mobile number. Every participant must fill their particular mobile number and Email ID.
  6. When the application fee has been paid and the application has been finally submitted on line by the candidate, any petition For change at any special(s) from the application shall not be entertained.
  7. The candidate shall Have the Ability to Choose the print-out of application form just after each of the measures of online registration Procedure Have been finished and the program fee was successfully compensated.

  10. Admission of a candidate into the entry evaluation is provisional subject to his/her being discovered otherwise qualified for Entry into the programme/course concerned from the admitting university.
  11. Use or Try to use unfair methods of any type with this particular evaluation containing impersonation will automatically cause the Cancellation of candidature at any point besides bringing legal actions as deemed fit.
  12. Candidates are advised to keep (i) at least three printouts of online application form(ii) Three identical copies of current Passport size color photos (with date and name)which has been scanned anduploaded using the internet application, for Subsequent usage in the time of evaluation and entrance (iii) Copy of evidence of payment of application fee
  13. The Nominees aren’t required to send the hard copy of Online Application Form to the ICAR.  But, he’s Advised to maintain adequate copies of the Online Application Form together with the evidence of commission paid for any occasion reference.
  14. Candidate may find any advice according to scheduled time and date only. Changes, if any, in the scheme of evaluation Will be informed about the ICAR site.
  15. In most communications concerning submission of program or otherwise associated with admissions, the backup of the internet Application type, payment receipt and legitimate Govt. ID proof has to be submitted,otherwise, the communication could be Deemed incomplete without the processing could be performed on the communicating, with no notice to the applicant.
  16. Ragging in any kind inside or outside the campus is strictly prohibited.
  17. The documents of this AICE-JRF/SRF (PGS)-2018 will be preserved for the period as stated in the Record Retention Schedule of the Council.
