In a move made by CSIR-HRDG effective of April 2017, that will bring some respite to researchers entails that the Fellowships will be provided directly to the Researchers as Direct Benefit Transfer scheme is being implemented by DBT. See the Official Notification Below :

Sub : Implementation of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Scheme- reg
As you are aware that CSIR-HRDG is in the process of Implementation of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Scheme in respect of all its schemes i.e. Fellowships (JRF/SPMF/SRF/RA/SRA/CSIR Nehru PDF), 0hatnagar Fellowship Grant, YSA Project Grants, SSB/YSA Honorarium, EMR funded Research Schemes, Emeritus Scientist Scheme, Symposia and Travel Grants etc. In this regard a proforma (Part-A: For grants to be released to host institutions & Part-B: For grants to be released to individual beneficiaries – copy enclosed herewith) has been developed wherein all CSIR Labs/Institutes as well as all Grantee Institutions will be required to furnish the details of the Institutions as well
as the details of the individual beneficiaries so that the amount of Fellowships/Associateships/Honorarium and pay etc., could be paid directly to their Bank accounts by the CSIR-HRDG. The above scheme is applicable w.e.f. April, 2017.You are, therefore, kindly requested to furnish the requisite information in the prescribed proforma and submit the same to HRDG by 10th day of every month in respect of the preceding month in excel sheet by email and hardcopy thereof duly authenticated by the authorised signatory(ies) to enable CSIR- HRDG to process further to transfer the fellowship etc., directly to the Bank account of beneficiaries.
