About the college: The Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering (Biodepartment) is a nodal center of excellence for furthering multi-disciplinary efforts in biology-related areas addressing both the fundamental and applied aspects of biology. It comprises mainly of four areas representing Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Biology and Biochemical Engineering.

All PG Admissions are through Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM) full-time Ph.D. programme, Students who have qualified in the DBT/CSIR/UGC-JRF examination and University entrance examination are admitted to Ph.D. programme.

Details of faculty: the members of the Biodepartment are in a unique position to interact with those doctors who are on the forefront of delivering medical technology to patients. Finally, the Biodepartment also has the distinction of having two renowned scientists as ‘Distinguished Guest Professors’: Prof. G. Padmanaban, former director of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and Prof. Hartmut Michel, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry (1988), Director, Max- Plank Institute fur Biophysik, Germany. Dedicated faculty and students, strong infrastructure and a unique interdisciplinary environment contribute towards our goal of creating a department of excellence in Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering.
