Breaking into high-impact Life Sciences Research just got easier! The Tata Memorial Centre, in collaboration with Indian Council of Medical Research, is offering a rare opportunity in cutting-edge pediatric cancer genomics research. This recruitment drive under a prestigious ICMR Centre for Advanced Research project focuses on whole exome and genome analysis, opening doors for candidates interested in Bioinformatics Jobs, Genomics Research, and Clinical Data Science. If you’re aiming for a career in life sciences research, this is your chance to work on a national-level, multi-institutional project that can significantly boost your research profile.

About the Institute

The Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) is one of India’s leading cancer research and treatment institutes, operating under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. Its advanced research wing, Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer, is globally recognized for excellence in cancer genomics and translational research.  In partnership with Indian Council of Medical Research, this project aims to decode the genetic landscape of pediatric cancers in India using large-scale genomic sequencing. The initiative spans 9 major cancer centers across India, enabling collaborative, high-impact discoveries. This program offers researchers hands-on exposure to NGS technologies, bioinformatics pipelines, and clinical genomics, making it a powerful platform for building a strong career in life sciences and bioinformatics.

About the Project

  • Project Title: Whole Exome and Genome analysis to define Childhood Cancer Germline Genomic Landscape, identify new cancer predisposition genes, and develop, validate India-specific multigene panels for inherited paediatric cancers.
  • Coordinating Centre: ACTREC, Tata Memorial Centre, Navi Mumbai
  • Overall Project PI/Co-PI: Dr Rajiv Sarin / Dr Girish Chinnaswamy
  • Site PI: Dr Badira CP
  • Participating Centres: ACTREC, TMC Navi Mumbai; TMH, TMC, Mumbai; RCC, Thiruvananthapuram; Cancer Institute, Adyar; KMC, Manipal; HBCH, TMC, Vishakapatnam; BBCI, Guwahati; HBCH & MPMMC, TMC, Varanasi; RGCI, Delhi
  • The project addresses the missing heritability in childhood cancers by utilizing whole exome/genome sequencing in 2500 consecutive pediatric cancers, enriched with rare cancers, along with deep phenotypic and functional characterization.
