Project Associate Job at CSIR-CFTRI | Biotechnology | Apply Now
The CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) is inviting applications for the position of Project Associate – I (PAT-I) under a high-impact oncology project. If you are interested in a Project Associate Job at CFTRI, this opportunity could be ideal for you. The project focuses on the preclinical safety and efficacy of food-derived compounds in treating one of the most aggressive forms of cancer. As a Project Associate, you will be at the forefront of Biotechnology research in Mysuru, conducting experiments that bridge the gap between nutrition and cancer therapy. This CFTRI Recruitment offers an initial one-year tenure, with the possibility of extension up to three years based on performance and project requirements.
About the Institute
CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), located in Mysuru, is a constituent national laboratory of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR). Since its inception, CFTRI has established itself as a global leader in food science and technology research, focusing on food processing, nutrition, and the development of value-added food products. The institute’s mission is to provide scientific and technological interventions to ensure food and nutritional security while promoting the health of the Indian population. For a researcher, a CFTRI Recruitment represents joining a world-class academic environment where food science meets molecular biology to solve complex disease challenges.

Project Details
In this Project Associate Job, you will be investigating how “Postbiotic Metabolites”—the bioactive compounds produced by functional microbes—can target cancer cells.
- Project Title: “Targeting Triple-negative Breast Cancer by Dietary Post biotic Metabolites: Complimentary Efficacy and Preclinical Safety Evaluation”
- Understanding TNBC: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a subtype of breast cancer that lacks the three most common receptors (Estrogen, Progesterone, and HER2). This makes it harder to treat with standard hormone therapies, requiring innovative approaches like the dietary metabolites studied in this project.
- The Postbiotic Approach: Postbiotics are the “by-products” of fermentation (like short-chain fatty acids or enzymes) that provide health benefits to the host. The project aims to evaluate how these metabolites can safely inhibit cancer growth.
Role Requirements
CSIR-CFTRI is seeking a candidate with a strong foundation in molecular biology and analytical techniques.
- Job Position: Project Associate – I
- Essential Education: M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Microbiology, or Biochemistry.
- Monthly Stipend:
- ₹31,000 + 20% HRA: For candidates who have qualified for NET/GATE or other National-level exams conducted by Central Government agencies.
- ₹25,000 + 20% HRA: For other eligible candidates who do not have the above qualifications.
