Key Responsibilities
In this Patent Associate Job Role, you will manage the lifecycle of a patent from the initial technical disclosure to final grant.
- US & EP Prosecution: Draft and prepare responses to Office Actions from the USPTO and EPO, addressing objections regarding novelty, inventive step, and enablement.
- Claim Strategy: Analyze rejections to develop technically sound response strategies and amend claims/specifications accordingly.
- Technical Collaboration: Communicate directly with inventors to extract and incorporate technical details into legal responses.
- Prior Art Analysis: Conduct deep-dive analysis to support amendment strategies and prosecution.
- Filing Support: Assist with PCT national phase filings, as well as continuation and divisional applications.
Qualifications & Requirements
Elevate seeks candidates who possess a blend of technical biological knowledge and a deep understanding of international patent law for this Patent Associate Job.
- Education: A B.Tech in Biotechnology, Life Science, or Biochemistry is mandatory.
- Legal Expertise: Familiarity with 35 U.S.C. 101, 102, 103, 112 (US law) and EPO Articles 52–57, 84, 123 (European law).
- Experience: 1–2 years in patent prosecution; being a Patent Agent is highly preferred.
- Technical Exposure: Previous exposure to Electrochemistry technology is an added advantage.
- Soft Skills: Strong legal reasoning, attention to detail, and the ability to handle complex technical disclosures in a fast-paced environment.
