- Position Title: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
- Investigator: Amit Sharma
- Location: Sree Avittom Thirunal Hospital (SAT Hospital) and Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, and associated sentinel sites.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinating with clinicians and hospital laboratories at sentinel sites
- Receiving blood samples collected by authorized clinical staff and ensuring proper documentation
- Verifying labelling, coding, and maintaining accurate sample records
- Processing (as required), aliquoting, and temporary storage of samples following biosafety guidelines
- Maintaining cold-chain logistics and arranging safe transport of samples to ICGEB, New Delhi
- Maintaining project documentation and data records
- Assisting with laboratory procedures at ICGEB, New Delhi, if required
- Travel within and around Thiruvananthapuram is required.
Fellowship and Duration
Fellowship as per the norms of funding agencies. Initially, the positions are available for three months and can be further extended based on the performance of the candidates. The selected candidate will be employed by ICGEB and will be posted in Thiruvananthapuram.
Educational Qualifications
- M.Sc. in Life Sciences / Microbiology / Biotechnology / Molecular Biology or related fields.
- Experience in clinical sample handling, molecular biology, or infectious disease research is desirable.
Desirable Skills
- The candidate should have strong organizational and coordination skills, familiarity with biosafety and biomedical waste management, and experience in infectious disease or public health research.
- Knowledge of Malayalam language is mandatory.
