The Institute’s aim is to contribute to basic sciences and develop technology using local resources through strong interdisciplinary research approach across different divisions. Institute is equipped with modern and sophisticated instrumentation including TEM, SEM, XRD, LCMS-MS, AFM, DNA Sequencer and computational facility for cutting edge scientific research. Research Areas
The Institute invites applications under the following research areas for admission as JRF of IASST, Guwahati on rolling basis with valid national research fellowship (CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR –JRF).
- Life Sciences Division – Probiotics, gut microbiome, healthy Ageing/Pharmacology and Drug Discovery/Microbial bioactive metabolites against multidrug resistant bacteria/Plant microbe interactions (microbial bioformulation for plant growth promotion, disease & pest biocontrol)/ Infectious diseases, Quorum sensing, Bacterial biofilm, and Drug discovery against antimicrobial resistance/ Traditional and Modern Drug Discovery and Disease Diagnosis
- Interdisciplinary Research Centre: Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates with valid National Research Fellowship shall be eligible to apply for admission and registration within the ongoing program of research at IASST, if obtained 55% marks in aggregate (equivalent CGPA in 10-point scale) in the master’s degree examination. A candidate belonging to SC/ST who has obtained 50% marks in aggregate in master degree examination shall also be eligible to apply.
Age Limits: Upper age limit is 28 years. Age relaxation as per the GOI Norms.
Application Procedure: Interested candidate should apply through online only (www.iasst.gov.in). Incomplete applications will not be entertained.
Shortlisting and Selection Procedure
- The candidate will be shortlisted until the positions are filled. The screening committee will sit as and when required to shortlist candidates for the vacant position/positions. Selection will be based on the performance in the interview (online/offline).
- The expected dates of interview will be displayed in website/communicated to selected candidates through email.
- No TA/DA will be provided to the candidate for appearing the interview. The decisions of the admission committee will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard. Results of interview will be available in IASST website and all correspondence must be done through email to [email protected]/[email protected].
- Selected candidates, after joining, as per IASST rule, will be eligible to apply for PhD registration in AcSIR under which the supervisor is affiliated.
Fellowship/Financial Support for JRF
- Selected candidates will be required to activate their CSIR/UGC-JRF after joining at IASST as admissible. Subject to availability of seat, selected candidates will be provided accommodation in the ‘Dorothy Hodgkin Student and Scientists Home’ as per the Institute’s rule.
