Project Overview

The project aims to create a “Point-of-Care” (PoC) device—a tool that can detect multiple strains of Salmonella quickly and sensitively outside of a traditional lab setting. The technical core of the device uses Dielectrophoresis, a technique that uses non-uniform electric fields to manipulate and separate cells (like Salmonella) based on their dielectric properties. By combining this with Immunochromatography (similar to the tech in a rapid antigen test), the team aims to develop a multiplexed device that can catch food-borne pathogens with high precision. For those seeking a job in research, this kind of innovative biomedical project offers immense potential for career growth. The PI is Dr. Sonu Gandhi.

Eligibility & Fellowship

The position offers a monthly fellowship of Rs. 28,000/- + HRA as per admissible norms. To be eligible for this Biomedical Job, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Graduate + Experience: A three-year graduate degree in Biomedical Engineering or Life Sciences plus three years of post-qualification experience.
  • Postgraduate: A postgraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering or Life Sciences.
  • Engineering Degree: A four-year graduate degree specifically in Biomedical Engineering.

Desirable Skills & Experience

NIAB is looking for candidates who can hit the ground running with specific technical skill sets: Securing a position here means working on research job assignments that require hands-on knowledge and a biomedical background.

  • Immunology: Hands-on experience with monoclonal antibodies and in-vitro models.
  • Advanced Engineering: Proficiency in 3D printing and working with organoids.
  • Sensors: Prior exposure to biosensing and materials science.

Application Process & Deadlines

  • Mode: Applications are strictly ONLINE via www.niab.org.in.
  • Window: The portal opened on 03-02-2026 and will close on 23-02-2026.
