About the Institute
The BRIC-National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute is an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. Located in Knowledge City, Mohali, the institute focuses on agri-food biotechnology innovations to improve nutrition security. NABI works on biofortification, functional foods, crop genomics, sustainable agriculture, and translational biotechnology research. Since its establishment in 2010, the institute has contributed significantly to developing nutrition-enhancing crops and biotechnology-based food solutions. It serves as a national hub for advanced career in life science and agricultural biotechnology.
1. Senior Research Fellow
- Project Title: “Exosomes from plants: isolation and characterization and their effects on adipogenesis” (NABI CORE)
- Principal Investigator: Dr Vikas Rishi, Scientist G, BRIC-NABI
- Positions: Senior Research Fellow (One position)
- Duration: The appointment is for one year.
- Essential Qualification:
- Postgraduate degree in basic science or graduate/postgraduate degree in the professional course selected through a process described through any one of the following:
- Scholars selected through National Eligibility Tests-CSIR-UGC-NET, including Lectureship (Assistant Professorship), GATE and GPAT
- Selection process via National-level examinations conducted by central government departments and their agencies and institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc.
- Two years of research experience as JRF.
- Desired Experience: Experience in advanced molecular biology and biochemical methods. Experience in animal cell culture protocols is desirable. Ability to analyze transcriptome and small RNA sequencing data from extracellular vesicles.
- Responsibilities: Work on isolation, purification, and characterization of extracellular vesicles from plants.
- Emoluments: Rs. 42,000/- per month (plus HRA)
- Age limit: 32 years. Relaxation up to 5 years is admissible in the case of SC/ST/OBC/PD and women candidates as per GOI instructions.

2. Research Associate I (RA-I)
- Project Title: “Genomics for the development of disease-resistant and climate-resilient Brassica crops” (NABI CORE)
- Principal Investigator: Dr. Sivasubramanian R, Scientist-D, BRIC-NABI
- Positions: Research Associate I (One position)
- Duration: Purely temporary for 1 year, with possible extension based on performance.
- Essential Qualification: Ph.D. in Life Sciences or Biotechnology with at least two peer-reviewed international publications in SCI journal.
- Desired Experience: Experience in genetics, genomics, and molecular biology related techniques.
- Emoluments: Rs. 58,000/- per month + HRA
- Age limit: 40 years (Relaxation is admissible as per GOI instructions).

3. Junior Research Fellow
- Project Title: “Investigating the genetic basis of variation in yield and grain nutrient profile in rice under elevated day and night temperature” (GAP-78)
- Principal Investigator: Dr. Rajeev Nayan Bahuguna, Scientist – D, BRIC-NABI
- Positions: Junior Research Fellow
- Duration: Initially for one year as JRF, possible upgrade to SRF based on progress report.
- Essential Qualification: Postgraduate degree in Basic Sciences or professional course with National Eligibility Tests clearance.
- Desirable Experience: Experience in phenotyping, marker-assisted selection, and molecular biology technology.
- Emoluments: Rs. 37,000/- per month + HRA
- Age limit: 28 years (5-year age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PD and women candidates).
