Available Positions:
- Guest Faculty: 02 Positions (B.Sc. and M.Sc. classes)
Honorarium:
- The assignment will be on a lecture basis with a token honorarium of Rs. 1500/- per lecture with an upper limit of Rs. 50,000 per month.
- The candidate shall have to give an undertaking that he/she will not draw any fellowship/stipend or any financial assistance from any agency till they are teaching in the Department of Microbiology, Panjab University, Chandigarh, as a guest faculty.
- The candidates who are already availing of JRF scholarships in the university are not entitled to the honorarium, but they will be issued an experience certificate for the guest faculty.
Essential Qualification:
- Master’s degree in Microbiology with 55% marks (or an equivalent) from an Indian university, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
- A relaxation of 5% shall be provided for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Differently-abled/Other Backward Classes (OBC) (Non-creamy Layer)/Ph.D. degree holders who have obtained their master’s degree prior to 19 September 1991.
- Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET, or have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission.
- Provided further, candidates registered for the Ph.D. program prior to July 11, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions:
- Ph.D. degree of the candidate awarded in regular mode only.
- Evaluation of the Ph.D. thesis by at least two external examiners;
- An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate had been conducted;
- The candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work, out of which at least one must be in a refereed journal;
- The candidate has made at least two presentations in conferences/seminars, based on his/her Ph.D. work. (a) to (e) as above are to be certified by the Registrar/Dean (Academic Affairs).
Desirable Qualification:
- Ph.D. in Microbiology or allied fields.

Important Note:
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. The number of actual positions may vary.
- The hard copy of the form duly signed by the candidate, along with the self-attested copy of the certificates, must reach the office of the Department of Microbiology, Panjab University, Chandigarh, by 09.02.2026, by 5.00 pm.
- The interview for the positions will most probably be held during the second week of February, 2026.
- The eligible candidates will be intimated about the exact date and time of the interview by email.
- The applicants are advised to bring their original certificates and other relevant documents for verification at the time of the interview.
