Job Details:
The candidates will be required to conduct extensive field surveys in the Himalayan region for seed collection of endemic and threatened plant species. Work will include seed processing, viability testing, data entry, herbarium data extraction, database management, and contribution to the development of a geo-referenced Seed Atlas. Candidates are expected to assist in report writing, documentation, and undertake any other tasks assigned by the PI under the project.

- Duration: 2 Years
- No. of Posts: 5 (1 in Noida, 1 in Dehradun, 1 in Gangtok, 1 in Shillong, 1 in Itanagar)
- Monthly Emoluments: Noida: Rs. 31,200/- (Rs. 24,000 + 30% HRA); (Dehradun, Gangtok): Rs. 28,800/- (Rs. 24,000 + 20% HRA); (Shillong, Itanagar): Rs. 26,400/- (Rs. 24,000 + 10% HRA)
- Maximum Age (Years): 28 years
Essential Qualification:
- First Class M.Sc. in Botany/Life Sciences/Plant Sciences/Ecology or equivalent degree from a UGC recognized University.
- Minimum 1 year of research experience in conducting field surveys and should be well versed with MS Office.
Desirable Qualification: Experience in seed collection, processing, and storage
techniques Knowledge of plant taxonomy and identification Experience in GIS and database management Knowledge of seed viability testing and germination protocols Experience in
herbarium techniques Proficiency in English (speak, read, write) Scientific writing skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct extensive field surveys in Himalayan regions for seed collection of endemic and threatened plant species
- Undertake seed processing, testing, documentation, and long-term storage activities
- Work on curation of biodiversity information from literature and herbarium specimens
- Perform seed viability testing, germination trials, and quality assessment
- Contribute to the development of a geo-referenced Seed Atlas using GIS tools
- Assist in training programs and capacity-building activities for community seed banks
- Prepare technical reports, research articles, and project documentation
- Maintain accurate databases and records of seed collections
- Undertake any other tasks assigned by the Project Investigator (PI)
