The PhD Programme in Biological and Life Sciences at the School of Arts and Sciences of Ahmedabad University provides a lively exchange with experts from across the academic disciplines and various global partnerships, and the programme grants access state-of-the-art laboratories. The scope of the division’s research spans pure and applied biological sciences ranging from ‘ecosystem to molecules’.

ELIGIBILITY
The applicant must have completed a Master’s Degree in any discipline with a minimum of fifty five (55%) per cent marks or an equivalent grade in any of following areas: Life Sciences. Areas: Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Nanotechnology, Toxicology, Bioinformatics, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Forensic Sciences (Biology/Chemistry) or an equivalent degree in subjects related to biological sciences.
In exceptional cases, a candidate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Sciences may be admitted to the programmes, albeit with the requirement of completing additional credits as per the overall PhD policy of Ahmedabad University
FINANCIAL AID
The University awards full tuition fee waiver and financial support to full-time doctoral students. The University also encourages Indian and foreign students to apply for funding from external sources The financial support could be either University Assistantship or University Fellowship, or from external sources. We offer University Assistantships at INR 40,000 per month plus tuition fee waiver, and University Fellowships at INR 50,000 per month plus tuition fee waiver.
HOUSING
Accommodation for the candidates selected for the final round of in-person interview will be arranged at the University student village as per the University’s norms.
