Job Overview:
The Scientific Officer will be responsible for performing, validating, and reporting diagnostic tests while ensuring adherence to quality standards and regulatory guidelines. This Life Science Jobs role supports laboratory operations through equipment management, quality control activities, documentation, and coordination with internal teams to maintain efficiency and compliance.
Key Responsibilities for Scientific Officer role:
Laboratory Operations
- Perform routine and specialized diagnostic tests as per SOPs
- Validate and verify test results before release
- Oversee sample processing and workflow accuracy
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to NABL and ISO standards
- Conduct daily QC reviews and proficiency testing
- Maintain QC logs, deviation reports, and corrective actions
- Ensure biosafety and safe laboratory practices
Coordination & Support
- Support junior scientific staff and technologists
- Collaborate with internal teams to meet TAT requirements
- Participate in root-cause analysis and process improvement
- Assist in inventory, reagent verification, and stock planning
Reporting & Documentation
- Enter and review results in LIS
- Maintain equipment logs and calibration records
- Prepare audit and management review reports
Educational Requirements:
- M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Microbiology, or Life Sciences
Skills Required:
- Strong technical knowledge of diagnostic laboratory testing
- Experience with automated analyzers
- Excellent documentation and analytical skills
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in LIS and MS Office tools
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
