Role Responsibilities
The Editor will take ownership of the editorial process within their specialized subject area, ensuring quality and impact in their scientific communication job.
- Manuscript Management: Handle original research papers, including manuscript selection and overseeing the peer review process.
- Decision Making: Make well-reasoned editorial decisions on submitted manuscripts in light of expert advice.
- Strategy & Curation: Determine the representation of their subject (Cancer Omics / Computational Cancer Biology) in the journal.
- Liaison & Outreach: Liaise extensively with editors at other journals in the Nature family and with experts in the international scientific community.
- Content Commissioning: Commission and edit Reviews, and write Editorials.
- Representation: Attend conferences and visit research institutions worldwide.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- Education: A PhD (or equivalent) in a field related to cancer omics or computational cancer biology.
- Domain Knowledge: A thorough understanding of recent trends and developments in the field.
- Language: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Assessment Skills: The ability to read and assess the novelty, context, and implications of research submitted from different areas of this discipline.
Desirable Qualifications
- Additional research experience is valuable but not necessary.
- Editorial Experience: Not required (complete training provided), but applicants with significant editorial experience will be considered for the Senior Editor position.
