Key Responsibilities
- Conduct subject-matter-expert screening of manuscripts
- Evaluate submissions for journal scope, integrity, and suitability
- Select and invite peer reviewers
- Assess reviewer reports and make editorial decisions
- Handle revised submissions and rebuttals
- Support manuscript transfer and referral processes
- Participate in pilot projects and special editorial initiatives
- Maintain timely reporting within defined editorial workflows
Educational Requirements
- PhD or equivalent advanced degree in Health Science, or Life Science
- Exceptional research experience may be considered in lieu of a PhD
Skills Required
- Strong understanding of peer review and scholarly publishing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- High attention to detail and analytical ability
- Ability to manage workload efficiently under deadlines
- Collaborative mindset for cross-functional editorial teams
- Familiarity with editorial systems such as ScholarOne or Editorial Manager
