Role Overview
As a Scientist I, Protein Biology, you’ll be an integral part of the antibody development team, contributing to research programs that enhance product quality and innovation. This role involves experimental design, data analysis, and hands-on work in protein purification, antibody conjugation, and assay validation to support Thermo Fisher’s growing portfolio of scientific products.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute experiments with precision to achieve program objectives.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of experimental data and observations.
- Conduct literature research to stay informed on emerging trends in antibody and protein biology.
- Compile and present findings in written reports and team meetings.
- Ensure strict adherence to schedules, safety protocols, and quality standards.
Qualifications & Experience Required For Scientist Jobs
Education:
- Master’s degree in Life Sciences with 0–4 years of relevant experience, or
- Ph.D. (submitted within the last year) in protein biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, immunology, or biochemistry.
Technical Expertise
- Strong foundation in protein expression, purification, and antibody development.
- Hands-on experience with affinity, ion-exchange, and size exclusion chromatography.
- Familiarity with automated purification systems (AKTA, NGC) and liquid handling systems.
- Skilled in antibody validation techniques such as ELISA, western blot, and immunofluorescence.
- Knowledge of protein modeling tools like PyMOL, Schrodinger, or Discovery Studio.
- Experience in antibody or protein engineering and structural biology (preferred).
Additional Skills Required for Scientist Jobs
- Strong statistical and analytical skills using tools like GraphPad Prism and MS Office.
