Project Overview

  • Project Title: Expansion of INSACOG Wastewater Surveillance of SARS-CoV-2, Emerging Pathogens, and Antimicrobial Resistance through Genomic-Based Methods
  • Principal Investigator: Dr. P. Prasad, Scientist-F
  • Funding Agency: BIRAC (Ref No: GCI-13012T2T2025-GCI)
  • Project Duration: 18 months

This project focuses on strengthening wastewater-based surveillance using genomic techniques to monitor pathogens and antimicrobial resistance, providing vital data for public health management.

Available Positions under ILS Recruitment 2025

Project Scientist–II (Wet Lab) – 01 Position

  • Remuneration: ₹67,000 + 20% HRA per month
  • Eligibility:
    • Ph.D. in Science or Master’s in Engineering/Technology from a recognized institution (minimum 60%).
    • Minimum three years’ experience in R&D or scientific organizations.
  • Age: Below 40 years (as of 27 November 2025); relaxation as per Govt. norms.
  • Desired Skills:
    • Expertise in microbial isolation, cloning, PCR/qPCR/dPCR, electrophoresis, nucleic acid isolation, and NGS library prep.
    • Strong project management and report-writing skills.
  • Job Role:
    • Coordinate sample collection, data maintenance, molecular biology experiments, and report preparation for the project.

Project Associate–II (Wet Lab) – 01 Position

  • Remuneration: ₹35,000 + 20% HRA per month
  • Eligibility:
    • Master’s degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc, or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Medicine (minimum 55%).
    • Two years’ experience in R&D or scientific work.
  • Age: Below 35 years (as of 27 November 2025).
  • Desired Skills:
    • Hands-on experience in molecular biology, microbial work, qPCR, and NGS library preparation.
    • Preference for NET/GATE/GPAT qualified candidates.
  • Job Role:
    • Responsible for sewage sample processing, RNA/DNA extraction, RT-qPCR, library preparation, and next-generation sequencing.

Project Associate–II (Bioinformatics) – 01 Position

  • Remuneration: ₹35,000 + 20% HRA per month
  • Eligibility:
    • Master’s in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc, or Bachelor’s in Engineering/Technology/Medicine (minimum 55%).
    • Two years’ relevant experience in R&D or academic institutions.
  • Age: Below 35 years (as of 27 November 2025).
  • Desired Skills:
    • Proficiency in NGS data analysis (Exome, WGS, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq).
    • Working knowledge of R-Bioconductor, Python, and bioinformatics pipelines.
    • Preference for NET/GATE/GPAT qualified candidates.
  • Job Role:
    • Analyze next-generation sequencing datasets and assist in bioinformatics data interpretation.
    • Candidates must include a one-page summary of bioinformatics experience and publications.

Laboratory Technician – 02 Positions

  • Remuneration: ₹20,000 + 20% HRA per month
  • Eligibility:
    • B.Sc. or 3-year diploma in Engineering/Technology.
  • Age: Below 50 years (as of 27 November 2025).
  • Desired Skills:
    • Experience in biological sample handling, field collection, and familiarity with Microsoft tools.
  • Job Role:
    • Routine collection of wastewater, soil, and other samples across Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
    • Handle lab orders, equipment tracking, and assist in sample management.

Selection Process

  • Candidates will be shortlisted based on academic merit and relevant experience.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview (in-person/online).
  • No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.
  • Final selection will be made by the Director, ILS, and will be binding.
