Job Overview
Aragen is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Assistant with strong expertise in mammalian cell culture to support preclinical oncology projects. This research assistant job requires hands-on skills, precision, and the ability to support in vivo tumor model development used for evaluating new cancer therapeutics.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cell Culture Maintenance & Expansion
- Maintain and expand human and murine cancer cell lines (adherent & suspension) under aseptic conditions.
- Handle media preparation, cryopreservation, and revival of cell stocks.
- Conduct mycoplasma testing and confirm cell line identity via STR profiling.
- Design and execute oncology-related cell-based assays.
2. Data Analysis & Reporting
- Record experimental procedures and results in ELN with high accuracy.
- Analyze and present data clearly to project teams.
- Assist in drafting SOPs, documentation, and technical reports.
3. Laboratory Management
- Manage inventory of culture reagents and consumables.
- Ensure compliance with internal safety and quality guidelines.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of cell culture equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Education
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Oncology, or a related life science field.
- Experience
- 2–4 years of hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture.
- Experience supporting preclinical oncology or similar in vitro research preferred.
- Technical Skills
- Strong aseptic and sterile technique expertise.
- Ability to culture cells at large scale (800M–1000M).
- Proficiency in cell counting and viability assays.
- Troubleshooting skills for culture issues and assay variability.
- Exposure to basic molecular biology techniques (Western blot, ELISA preferred).
- Soft Skills
- Strong organization and time-management abilities.
- Detail-oriented and capable of independent work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate within fast-paced scientific teams.
- Preferred Skills
- Experience with viral transduction (lentiviral/retroviral).
- Ability to establish primary tumor cell cultures or PDX models.
- Experience in GMP/GLP-compliant environments.
