Job Overview:
This role provides hands-on experience in microbial electrosynthesis, CO₂ utilization biotechnology, reactor design, analytical instrumentation, and related interdisciplinary research.
- Job Title: Project Assistant / Research Associate Positions
- Project Title: Validation and techno-economic assessment of green energy powered CO2 to high-value chemical synthesis by integrated biobased and electrolyser technologies
- Principal Investigator: Dr. Sunil A. Patil, Associate Professor, Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences
- Duration: Initially for 1 year, with the possibility of extension to another year, subject to satisfactory performance and the availability of funds. The notice period for termination is one month.
- Salary: INR 37,000 plus HRA as per DST project norms
Educational Requirements:
- Postgraduate degree in Biotechnology or Microbiology with a strong academic record (as per DST guidelines)
- Candidates with Graduate/Postgraduate degrees in:
- Bioscience & Bioengineering
- Chemical Engineering

- Qualification in national-level exams such as NET/GATE is mandatory
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct experimental work related to CO₂ utilization technologies
- Operate bioelectrochemical systems and anaerobic reactors
- Contribute to reactor design, optimization, and performance analysis
- Perform analytical techniques (CV, CA, HPLC, GC)
- Maintain laboratory records, prepare reports, and assist in project documentation
Skills Required:
- Hands-on experience with:
- Bioelectrochemical systems
- Anaerobic microbiology
- CO₂ utilization technologies
- Analytical instruments (HPLC, GC, electrochemical analysis)
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Strong understanding of bioprocesses and microbial systems
